A Motivational Moment for Misguided Masters & Mutts

Compiled by Hugo Hotagen, DDD (Duke of Doorknobs & Doghouses), a loyal lapdog-in-training apprenticing with the affable, agnostic and all-round air-headed Court of the Quipping Queen.

A quirky, quizzical and sometimes questionable quotidian quotation, in honor of the “Year of the Dog”, follows herewith:

“If you think you’re a person of influence, try ordering someone else’s dog around.”

Author: Will Rogers (American humorist).

Hugo Hotagen is a Lord of Lost Souls who appears to fit in rather well with a consummate band of quick-witted quidnuncs over in the Court of The Quipping Queen and a curious cosmic place called The Wordorium.

The Big Picture: Developing A Whole House Plan

Before you start your next decorating project, don’t forget about the big picture - your whole house plan. Developing a whole house plan may sound overwhelming but it really can be quite simple and provide a strong foundation for creating a beautiful home. Whether you are decorating one room at a time or your entire home at once; developing a whole house plan is extremely important. The end result will be a house that “feels” good, looks great and truly is a home.

Does this mean that your home has to be the same from top to bottom? Absolutely not, after all, ultimately you want to create a space that reflects both your personality and style. What it does mean though, is that by establishing a plan, your home will have continuity and flow from one room to another; creating a space that is both comfortable and inviting.

Rooms within your home can be connected in various ways, and you probably have the beginnings of a whole house plan without really knowing it. Naturally, the architectural and structural details are a given, but there are other elements as well, that should be considered in your overall plan.

The real goal in developing your whole house plan is to establish some common elements that flow from room to room. There are several ways to do this. You may have a style of furniture that you love and will use throughout each room. Or if mixing and matching is your preference, you might decide to combine many styles that have a common finish such as light oak or dark mahogany. On this same note, by painting or staining items such as built in cabinets, decorative molding, baseboards and doors the same throughout your home, you can establish a common thread. Choosing a common finish (polished brass, nickel, etc.) on hardware such as door knobs, drawer pulls, faucets and light fixtures throughout each space is another great way to create a flow from room to room.

Probably, one of the biggest mistakes we make is to decorate our homes one room at a time without thinking of the big picture. This doesn’t mean though that you have to decorate entire home at one time, in fact, I encourage you to do one room or area at a time for many reasons. It’s much less overwhelming to work on one room vs. an entire house, certainly it’s less stressful, you get quicker results and of course it’s easier on your budget

Every house that is constructed requires a concrete foundation and every beautiful home starts with a whole house plan. The personality of your home begins with many of the above details and by keeping some decorative elements consistent throughout, you’ll have a great foundation for a beautiful home.

Some Basics on Small Kitchen Remodeling

The kitchen is probably one, if not the most remodeled area of the house. It has definitely gained so much attention from homeowners nowadays, probably because the kitchen has become the center or the hub of social and family activities. However, it doesn?t only hold true for family homeowners, it also applies to single people living in pads and condominiums, or college students living in dorms and apartments. But the difference, probably lies in the size and use of the kitchen. Compared to family houses, with wide kitchens, these single spacers only has a small space allotted for kitchens. Still, there?s an opportunity for these small kitchens to look good and new.

Small kitchen remodeling may not actually follow what the usual kitchen remodeling complexities have, but the basic must-haves should be present. Depending on who lives in that small place, whether he prefers a minimalist style or she likes a decorative one, the important aspects of the kitchen must still be there. Take for example, the countertops, at least cover all floor spaces with a counter space, and use a good countertop material that would suit your taste and design. There should also be cabinets, cupboards, and drawers filling up the empty spaces below the countertops and built on the walls, the more storage space you have, the better. Try to have built-in appliances to maximize the area and the little space you have. Your lighting must give a good effect on the room, making it look spacious and comfortable. There are other details which may vary depending on the person using the kitchen. If he or she usually uses her kitchen to cook or bake or work, try using tiles on the walls just above the sink, stove and countertops, for easier cleaning, and to give a variety on the look. You may also use unique and modern decorative handles and knobs for the cabinets and drawers to give a nice and fresh touch.

In small kitchen remodeling, one just has to do creative and resourceful thinking. Do not limit yourself to what is just there in your kitchen, try to imagine and visualize the kitchen you want, then work it out. It doesn?t mean that just because you have a small kitchen, you can?t anymore work some magic to beautify it. Make sure that when you start your small kitchen remodeling plan, you are putting a touch of yourself in it, this would give more life to your remodeled kitchen. Once your small kitchen remodeling is done, you?ll definitely enjoy staying in it — preparing, cooking, baking, eating, working, and even just chatting with your friends.

Future Impact Of Nanotechnology

Introduction

Nanotechnology can be defined in a number of ways; it is a vast and fresh emerging topic for the world. It is an arrangement and systematisation on the scale of 100 nm and less. Scientific fraternity does not consider it a science but a multi-scientific, while industrial sectors rate the technology as multi industries.

Human creativity can be communicated through its jumbo platform, which includes the command of comprehension and operating atomic and molecular substance and communications as mandatory for the optimisation of present products and the making of new ones. Perhaps that is why it is called an ideal scientific storm in place where all natural sciences come together and meet one another at the nanoscale. Nanotechnology incorporates many applications of different industries like health care, medicine, security, electronics, communications and computing.

While discussing nanotechnology, we should better understand the broad difference between science and technology. A novice technician may be misled by the term and holds the nanotechnology to be a technology manufacturing operative tools made-up and functioning on the scale of nanometers like molecular machines and molecular electronic tools. The technology is also regarded by some as a fresh but rising region of research, which slowly and gradually, will tell us more about itself clearly.

Top-down and Bottom-up

Two basically diverse methods assert the Nanotechnology: ‘top-down’ and ‘bottom-up’. ‘Top-down’ uses machining, templating and lithographic methods to produce nanoscale structures, but bottom-up, or molecular nanotechnology, uses to develop organic substances into decided structures, atom-by-atom or molecule - by - molecule, often by self-assembly or self - organisation. It is understandable that for the delivery and function of this new science and technology, both tactics are expected to be essential. Several areas of nanotechnology have been taken over by chemists; these fields incorporate the synthesis of inorganic, organic and hybrid nano-materials to apply in nano-tools, the enhancement of novel nano-analytical methods, and the management of biological molecules like DNA and the growth of molecular devices. The management of nanodimensional substance and/or the self-assembly of molecules into well-built compositions are managed by a large portion of chemistry.

Nanoscience has already been put into practice by polymer chemists and those concerned with liquid crystals and the strong fields of supramolecular chemistry imposes straight on nanoscience and technology. If good communication of potential pluses assures extensive help, the forthcoming uses of nanotechnology can be countless and wide-ranging. However, we must consider that the promises offered by nanotechnology are both positive and genuine. If we want to convey the truth of scientific development and distinguish between science and science fiction, our puffed up assertions for the nanotechnology will not help us. We must not forget that the positive results of the nanotechnology may come after years and the technological challenges we are coping with cannot be worked out merely minimising the physical scope of present materials. Media fear that this new technology triggers a new unexplored menace to society and hence it should be reined.

Bottom-up, complete opposite to top-down, is a method to fuse the material from atomic or molecular species through chemical reactions, allowing for the antecedent particles to develop in size. It’s the new concept for fusion in the nanotechnology world that could transform the recipe we make materials. Since the method is opposite to top-down, it begins its function with atoms and molecules and produces larger nanostructures.

This method demands comprehensive knowledge of forces of attraction. One cannot expect things come close without any attractive energy or active field in the region.

Electroplating is the easiest such bottom-up fusion course. By inducing an electric field with an applied voltage, we can attract charged particles to the surface of a substrate where bonding will take place. Most nanostructured metals with high solidity properties are produced with this attitude. It’s already been established that electroplating produces a material layer-by-layer, atom-by-atom.

Chemical Vapour Deposition is another big choice of chemists. With the mix of volatile gases and benefits of some simple thermodynamic principles, it’s achievable to have your source material travel its way to the substrate and then bond to the surface due to high chemical potentials. This is the one time-tested technique for producing nanowires and carbon nanotubes. It’s also a technique of preference for producing quantum dots. At present, CVD is the most favourite and easily accessible technique for producing nanostructures of all kinds.

Much potential can be seen in Self-assembly, as it is a groundbreaking new technique of producing materials from the bottom-up. Ideally, with self-assembly you can throw a bunch of modified molecules in a blend, and they should do all the difficult effort for you. Physical attractive force is one mode to get self-assembly. Material like static electricity, Van der Waals forces, and an array of other short-range attractive forces can be used to adjust component molecules in an ordered collection. This method has been very efficient in producing large grids of quantum dots in a tested periodic lattice.

Our strength to put up things from the bottom up is quite insufficient in scope. We can set up simple structures but we can’t produce combined tools from the bottom up. Apart from repeating grids, any kind of general order can’t be finished without some sort of top-down effect like lithographic patterning. If we want to take full advantage of the speed and accuracy of bottom up synthesis route, we have to become proficient in it.

Advantage Textile

Obviously, there are huge benefits to have materials that are 100 times stronger than we have now. Items manufactured from these materials could have 100 times less weight, using 100 times less material. Therefore, ultra light cars, trucks, trains, and planes would use far less power, particularly with atomically soft surfaces to minimise internal abrasion and air resistance damages.

Textile industry and fabric will have much the same benefits in functioning. At present, major units of fabrics are run by molecules of natural and synthetic materials like cotton (cellulose), wool (alpha-keratins), rayon (cellulose), polyester, and the like. The molecules are knotted jointly in several fashions to weave fibres, which consecutively can be spun into yarns.

At the molecular level, and considering the strengths of molecular nanotechnology, a clear method to enhance the health and durability of a fabric would be to add force to the fibre with carbyne molecules. Carbyne is a linear chain of carbon atoms with recurrent single and triple bonds. Carbyne has been recognised for some time but within the past year research scientists have effectively stabilized the molecule in long (300-500 atoms) chains by coating the ends with trifluoromethyl and nitrile radicals. Randomly long chains will be feasible with the production of molecular. With an approximated breaking force more than 6nN 19, carbyne is tremendously powerful in tension. A cubic packed range of carbyne molecules would have a tensile force more than 50 GPa (7,000,000 psi). According to analogy, rayon used for commercial purpose has a tensile force of 0.45 GPa (65,000 psi) and nylon, 0.083 GPa (12,000 psi). However, the carbyne molecule is fairly supple, giving many alternatives for winding into fibres.

Applying the identical types of configurations that Drexler created for gate knobs in the mechanical nanocomputer, a carbyne molecule could be cross-linked to other carbyne molecules. The power and rigidity of the resultant array could be oriented by altering the number, length, and geometry of the cross-links. Created of non-cross-linked molecular arrays, Carbyne fibres would have an exceptional amount of rigidity because fissures would not spread from one molecule to the next.

Carbyne has a huge thermal conductivity along the axis of the chain of carbon atoms (approximately that of diamond, around 2100 W/m-K-five times that of copper). As diamond is constant in air to 900K (1160?F), carbyne would have similar high temperature constancy provided that the ends are finished correctly. Carbine, with these properties, would offer an outstanding base for a heatproof fabric only if it is not in direct business with well-built carbide forming components like tungsten, titanium, tantalum, and zirconium at high temperatures. The extreme axial thermal conductivity would function as a natural heat pipe to help disperse heat from hot spots on the material. With an open range of molecules together with long, extensively spaced cross-links, thermal conductivity could be fairly low in the transverse plane.

Obviously, it would not be advisable to associate the theoretical properties of carbyne with present commercial materials. Without carbyne, the present materials, which are created with molecular nanotechnology, would have much better properties on their own. According to Roger Soderberg, there would be nearly 100% competence in changing yarns to fabric tensile force because of the advanced uniformity in both strength and lengthening from one yarn to another. Fibre parting could be eliminated as a failure mode by linking individual fibres end to end and making them unbroken, but still bundled and twisted in the same formless way. If desired, it is feasible to do this while keeping the look and texture of today’s fabrics, if desired.

Smart Materials and Nanotechnology

Molecular nanotechnology will integrate computers, sensors, and micro- and nanomachines with materials and thus introduce more fundamental transformations possible, while combination of flawless materials will initiate considerable progress in functioning. Here are some concepts:

. Micro-pumps and supple micro-tubes could convey coolant or a heated mode to required portions of clothing.

. To accept only specific kinds of molecules through, sorting rotors could be arranged as “pores” in a semi-porous membrane. To keep one side of a fabric dry or another side damp, water might be a helpful molecule to choose for. The water could be moved away to an evaporator, or piled up on the wet side.

. Active programmable material is one of the most fascinating concepts heard. The concept is to get the material manufactured by tiny cellular units that link to one another with screws. To orient their comparative spacing with the screws, computers would lead the cells, which are charged with small electrostatic motors. This choice would enable the screws to rigidify and which would separate; the shape of a product could alter to match with the requirements of the user. A quick modification in the shape of fabric or momentary interruptions between some cells of fabric can make the hard, inflexible object act like a fabric. On the other hand, a stretchy fabric could become inflexible with slackly attached cells temporarily linked into a stiff framework. Thus, differences between fabrics and other kinds of materials could vague.

. The programmable material idea has surpassed the boundaries of fabrics and entered other promising uses. Drexler mentioned one instance of space suit, which would enable the astronauts to move as freely as with their own skin. Installed computers linked to strain gages could feel the wearer’s anticipated movement and tune the material appropriately. To take in required bulk of heat from the sun-opposing side and transfer it to cold spots, reflectance of the outer layer could be fluctuating - though the material’s insulating agents would allow very little of the wearer’s heat to leak. Surplus heat could be transferred to radiators on the cold side.

. Self-cleaning fabrics: robotic tools same as mites could at regular intervals rub the fabric surfaces and integral conveyors could transport the dirt to a collection site, or the before stated molecule-selective membrane could transfer water to one side or the other for a cleaning rinse.

. Self-repairing Fabrics: Antenna would sense discontinuities in the material through loss of signal or a conveyed strain excess load and send robotic “crews” to mend the damage. Self-shaping fabrics would be capable to come back to their initial shape around a tear until repairs are influenced.

. By combining panels of fabric with microscopic mechanical couplings along their edges, piles of fabrics could be manufactured without noticeable seams. In the same way, surfaces could hold mechanical couplings that, when pressed together would adhere with almost the force of the bulk material. This ’smart Velcro’ could fasten and unfasten at the request of user.

Home Protection, What your security system may not detect!!!

In many cases, most people feel pretty secure with a basic/standard home security system, but with today’s criminals/robbers its shocking to know how many of them know there way around a security system. There are a couple of small inexpensive things you can do for you and your family that may prevent that awful robbery.

A. Window Alert is home security device that attaches to windows and set off by vibrations if someone tries to break through. Installs easily on any window, There is so many cases that robbers use there window cutting device that can not be detected from a basic Security system. This little window alarm was an essential in saving the millions of lives that were threatened by a robber.

B. A Home Security Device such as the Watchdog is ideal for home protection, because it accomplishes what even the best living, breathing watchdog cannot do. Rex’s electronic radar eyes, the Electronic Watch Dog Home Security Device can “see” through thick doors, walls and glass. And once his cord is plugged in, he’ll stay on duty around the clock, indefinitely. The Electronic Watch Dog Home Security Device can protect homes, apartments, mobile homes, RV’s, jewelry stores, factories, warehouses, public and private buildings of virtually every kind. For example, most apartment complexes do not have a security system in the apartment units. You only go in good faith that the apartment is safe. Rex, the electronic watch dog, what an easy solution to cure a robbery scare.

* Barking gets louder and more frequent as the intruder gets closer.
* Switches from the watchdog to the tranquil sounds of nature with the simple switch of a button.
* Variable distance sensitivity (up to 30′) as well as volume control.
* Supplements your regular home security system by detecting robbers before they attempt to break into your home.

C. A Nightmare Situation There are preventive solutions!!!
1. The Big Jammer is a home security device that is a strong 20 gauge steel adjustable door brace that installs easily under door knobs and provides added security. Adjusts easily to fit most hinged doors. End caps can be removed to allow for use on sliding glass doors as well. Clean, baked enamel finish makes it attractive for in-house use.
2. The base of the alarm is bolted to door or window frame, the actuator is connected to the window or door. The alarm is activated by opening the door or window. Great for any door particularly those hard to protect sliding glass doors.

On Using Metal Detectors

In general, larger searchcoils will give better depth with larger targets and
better ground coverage. However, sensitivity to smaller objects may be
sacrificed. Smaller searchcoils will offer greater sensitivity to smaller objects
and improved target separation in trashy soil. Be it out of sheer hobby or
more on the professional level, you really would not perform well treasure
hunting if you do not have a good metal detector to explore with.

A recent study proves that hand-held metal detectors are just as accurate
as x-rays in finding coins and other metallic objects swallowed by children.
They are cheaper and radiation-free, are usually lightweight, highly
sensitive and require little maintenance. The special shape of the sensitive
surface makes operation of the device easy, unlike portable metal
detectors with ring transducers.

Metal detectors work on the principal of electromagnetism and their
effects on conductive metals. The high-powered coil of metal, called the
transmitter, uses the battery power to generate a penetrating magnetic
field. As the electromagnetic field enters the ground, anything metallic will
become charged with magnetism. Graduating from Metal Detecting
Enthusiasts to Metal Detecting Professionals

There’s no question about your enthusiasm for metal detecting but
there’s everything to doubt about your metal detecting skills. If you want
to transform your enthusiasm into something more productive, visible, and
concrete - such as obtaining real honest-to-goodness finds - here are
some simple tips to upgrade your metal detecting abilities to the next
level:

On Using Metal Detectors

In order to prevent losing depth, always remember to keep your metal
detector low and flat to the ground. Don’t neglect to use headphones,
no matter how keen your hearing is. Take your time sweeping grounds; if
you’re after valuable finds rather than beating the record on who finds
something the fastest, sweep the ground slowly and with painstaking
care. Make several sweeps on the same area to ensure that you missed
nothing. Lastly, take the time reading your metal detector’s user guide, if
any has been provided. Always practice. It’s not impossible that you’ll find
nothing on your metal detecting skills you wish to improve.

On Other Metal Detecting Equipment

Always have extra batteries and a charger with you. Make sure that your
charger has the necessary connectors so you can use it in the car during
emergencies. Never forget to take a flashlight with you. Before leaving
home, make sure that the flashlight’s in good working order. Get an
advice from people who are the known authorities in the field of metal
detectors. Although families and friends are good sources of information,
they might not be as updated as the experts are.

Go to your local ” do it yourself ” coin operated car wash. Look for the
place where they dump the contents of the 25 cent vacuum cleaners.
Search the piles and see what a gold mine they are for coins and rings.

Any place there is construction and the ground is being cleared, that is a
great place to start treasure hunting. Successfull treasure hunting starts
with having the right metal detector. But which type of metal detector
should you get? Complete info on metal detectors and treasure hunting
at detect-metal.info. Most detectors will perform as promised by the
Manufacturers. However, different brands of detectors will have various
characteristics and features. Some detectors may require different swing
speeds and some may weigh more than others. Yet another feature to
consider (for ease of travelling and packing) is the number of sections that
the detector will separate into.

When buying a metal detector consider the price. If the metal detector
offers the best features of a then expect it to be expensive. If having
fewer features is all right with you, go for a less expensive one. Metal
detectors can run from as low as $50 to higher than $800.

Metal detectors work on the principal of electromagnetics and their
effects on conductive metals. There are actually two separate elements in
the coil of a typical unit. One is a high-powered coil of metal which uses
the battery power to generate a penetrating magnetic field. On Comfort
and Safety

Either have a backpack with you at all times or wear a shirt or pants that
has lots of pockets. This will not only make certain tools and equipment
more accessible, but it will also allow you to pocket small finds quickly in
order to resume sweeping immediately. Wear gloves, elbow and knee
pads to protect yourself from dirt and injury. Always have an insect and
bug repellent with you to enjoy nonstop metal detecting. Don’t forget to
have a bottle of drinking water handy so you can refresh yourself at
regular intervals.

On Metal Detecting Sites

With metal detecting, older is always better. Any land rich with history is
surely rich with metal detecting finds as well. The question is where these
old lands are.

Avail yourself of all the resources available to you such as the Internet and
the library in order to look up old maps. Befriend old-timers of your area as
they can probably point you to a place or two that can’t be found on any
of the local maps you’ve so far unearthed.

You are now merely metal detecting enthusiasts, but with a bit of
practice and luck, all of you will surely be on your way to becoming
successful metal detecting professionals.

A recent study proves that hand-held metal detectors are just as accurate
as x-rays in finding coins and other metallic objects swallowed by children.
Schools everywhere are using metal detectors to help filter out violence.
The metal detectors can very easily (for this is why they are used) detect
a knife or gun. Police stations and Airports use them as well. Comd find
out more on metal detector reviews in order to pick the perfect one
today!

It does, however, have its own downsides. Some say that the knobs of
the Pro XL are quite loose and when adjusting it, you have to be careful
not to hit it with your arms. It is quite sensitive and bumping it may
require you to start or reset the adjustments. Some users put a rubber
band around the knobs to keep them from moving or becoming loose.
The Garrett Enforcer G-2 is the smallest body scanner and sensitive
enough to detect even the smallest of knives or guns. The most popular
one is the Super Scanner. It can detect hatpins as small as one inch.

Business Directories, T-Shirts and More: Unconventional Marketing Tips

One of the key ingredients for the success of a business is a strong marketing strategy. Unfortunately, in today’s world, marketing is a lot more difficult than it used to be. Many companies may realize that after a while, traditional marketing strategies are not effective for their business. These companies may want to consider unconventional marketing strategies. Following these few unconventional marketing tips could potentially jumpstart your business.

1. Get listings in business directories on the Web. This may seem obscure, but business directories on the web can help direct consumers to many businesses. Additionally, web sites are listed in categories and therefore associated with other businesses in the same category. Association with other sites in a niche can help draw visitors. These business directories can also help a web sites search ranking (because of the links to the business site). The higher a site is ranked, the more potential customers will visit.

2. Publicity stunts are great. “Publicity stunt” has been given a bad image by some, but this marketing technique can do wonders. Doing something that no one has ever done before and using the platform to market a business or product is ingenious. Publicity stunts can be very effective when they are creative enough and draw large crowds. Naturally, be careful that it is not too obvious of a publicity stunt, because it can backfire.

3. Make t-shirts for anyone and everyone! Making a cool t-shirt with the company logo is very effective advertising. When people see a t-shirt with a new company on it, or a word they have never seen before, they are likely to investigate further. Designing an interesting t-shirt is a must for this marketing strategy to work. Sell or give the t-shirt to your friends, family, and anyone else who wants them. People wearing the t-shirt become walking, talking billboards. That’s high quality advertising for a low price.

4. Door-hangers on doorknobs are great for specific areas. New restaurants often generate a large amount of traffic from putting ads on doorknobs. Most people look at their doorknobs and will subsequently notice your business. It is a great way to generate word of mouth in a new community that you are targeting.

5. Purchase word-of-mouth advertising. While a door-hanger can generate word-of-mouth, one way to guarantee discussion is to pay someone to walk around town talking about a specific business or product. This person is lively and will tell everyone about a new business. It may seem odd to think of some guy standing in an elevator saying “Have you been to the new store on Main Street?” but the results are very real. Word-of-mouth is how many companies grow, so why not jump start word-of-mouth about your business?

Ready ? Set ? Sell! Preparing Your Home To Sell In A Buyers? Market

Sluggish. Slow. Decreasing. Those are words that are being applied to the recent housing sales markets. If you?re planning to sell, the news is nowhere near as bad as the doomsayers are making it sound. The problem is that there are so many people trying to sell their homes right now. The number of choices on the market encourages buyers to be choosy and to hold out for the perfect home at the best price. Any Realtor will tell you, though, that homes are selling ? and when they sell, it?s because the prospective buyer fell in love at first sight.

The homes that sell are those that ?wow? buyers from the curb and woo them all the way through to the back yard. So how do you turn your hearth into a new buyer?s heart throb? The same way that you?d attract a new beau ? freshen up, put on a little makeup and sport the most attractive outfit you can find.

Five Steps to Wow Them at the Curb.

Curb appeal is the real estate equivalent of sex appeal. That first view of your house may not break a sale ? but it can definitely make it.

1. Get rid of clutter in the yard. Don?t kid yourself that the bikes and Big Wheels tell buyers a home is well-loved and family-friendly. Stow the stuff ? the kids? toys, the gas grill, the rake leaning against the porch - and not in the garage. You?ll want that to look nice and clean, too.

2. Make any cosmetic repairs that the house needs. Clogged gutters? Hanging drainpipe? Shutter off kilter? Spend a weekend doing all those little things you?ve been saying you?ll do for the last three years.

3. Freshen up your house?s face. If you can, give it a new coat of paint. If your house is sided, this is the time to rent a power washer and give it a good hose down. Don?t forget to wash the windows and hang pretty window treatments inside, too. While you?re at it, make sure that mini-blinds are all at the same level in the windows facing the street. You?d be surprised what a difference, symmetry makes.

4. Mow the lawn, trim the shrubs, get the tree guy out to lop off those overhanging branches. Fix cracks in the driveway, dig up the moss in between the paving stones. The keyword is manicure ? everything should look very, very well taken care of.

5. Wrap it up with a bow. You can?t exactly put a ribbon in your house?s hair, but you can do the next best thing. Flowers offer instant appeal. Hit your local garden shop for a few flats of colorful, in bloom annuals and put in a flower beds along the walkway, or encircle a palm with a bed of impatiens.

Five Steps to Woo Them All the Way.

Give the inside of your house the same attention that you did the outside. Here?s how to turn attraction into love.

1. Get rid of clutter. Take down family photos, remove those report cards from the front of the fridge, tuck away the cherished collection of knick knacks. When you?re done, you should have clean counters, clean tables and clean shelves.

2. Clean. Clean. Clean. The key word is spotless. Scrub down walls, wash windows, get rid of the gray fingerprints around doorknobs and light switches. Clean your grout especially in the bathrooms. Shampoo carpets. Added bonus ? you?ll have to do far less deodorizing.

3. Pare down furniture to the essentials. Sofa, chair and tables in the living room. Bed, dresser and lamps in the bedroom. Engaging the services of a professional home stager is a very worthwhile investment.

4. If your budget allows for it, go for one or more of these high-ROI home improvements.
-Repaint your kitchen and bathroom walls. Choose a warm neutral color.
-Replace worn carpets.
-Update your kitchen.
-Update your bathroom.

5. Try a few psychological tricks. Hang a mirror on the wall opposite your front door. Invest in fresh flower arrangements ? but be sure to keep them fresh. Wilted flowers are NOT inviting. Play classical music ? softly ? when the house is being shown. And a favorite quick-pretty-up trick ? toss a clean damp towel and fresh scented dryer sheet in the dryer about half an hour before a showing. Clean laundry smell is even more appealing than chocolate chip cookies or apple pie baking in the oven.

Preparing Your Barbecue For The Summer Season

One of the greatest pleasures of the long summer days is standing over a scalding barbecue grill in your backyard blackening a row of your favorite sausages.

When daylight saving starts, barbecues across the country will be wakened from their winter hibernation and prepared for the summer season. That is the time to do a few routine checks and preparations which will keep your barbecue operating safely for the season.

Cleaning the inside of your barbecue

The first step to annual barbecue maintenance is cleaning. It has to be done!

The secret to cleaning your barbecue is to do it every time you use it, but don’t go over the top - a coat of natural food oils on the cast iron parts protects them from rust. Eventually those oils, fats and burnt-on food will build up excessively and need to be removed.

Warm barbecues are easier to clean than cold ones, so start it up for a short time first then turn it off and disconnect the gas before dismantling the entire barbecue to wash all the parts one by one.

The grills can be spread out on some newspaper and scraped clean with a grill scraper which is normally specially shaped to fit around the grill bars.

Alternately, grab a grill stone. These man-made stone blocks are soft enough to grind to the shape of the grill as you use them, removing grease and burnt-on food as you go. This is a great tool as it customises to your grill shape.

Spray on some cooking oil before scrubbing the grill clean with warm water and soap mixed with white vinegar to remove any residue. Once dry, spray on a little more oil and spread it with a paper towel or cloth. Make sure that the soap mixture is well cleaned off.

If you have ceramic flame-tamers or cooking grids these should be cleaned with soapy water and a brass wire barbecue brush. Soak in the soapy water for an hour first.

The outer casing

If your barbecue has a stainless-steel outer casing and trolley, then all it will need is cleaning. Harsh cleaners and abrasives shouldn’t be used on stainless-steel as they will scratch it - the soapy water and vinegar mix is all that is needed. After cleaning the outer casing, it can be buffed with cleaning oil, or even a little baby oil. The oil will remove watermarks and fingerprints and will also make it easier to clean next time.

If you have a casing and hood that is vitreous enamel you may have to use an oven cleaner type product (preferably non-toxic) to remove the baked on grease. Depending upon the state of the grease you may have to do this several times and then the grease can be removed with scourers and cloths. You should also wash the complete casing thoroughly.

De-rusting and re-oiling

If your grills and burners are cast iron, they may have corroded over winter. Scrape off any flaked rust and then give the surface a good scour with a wire brush, wash all the parts and then spray with cooking oil before they rust up again.

If the outer casing is developing rust spots, these should be rubbed back with steel wool and treated with rust converter before retouching with heat-resistant paint.

Timber barbecue trolleys can be kept in good order by re-oiling them once a year. Give the trolley a light sanding then use outdoor furniture oil or a specially formulated barbecue trolley oil. This will not only soak through oil stains on the top of your trolley but help protect against new ones.

Renew volcanic heating rocks each year as they become clogged with grease and oil. Empty the old sand from the drip tray, clean the tray and give it a spray of vegetable oil before lining it with aluminium foil. Place new washed sand on top of the foil.

Keep it working (and safe)

Gas taps can become stiff over winter, causing plastic controls to break. Remove the plastic knobs and spray the mechanisms with a lubricant like WD-40 to free them up. Apply a drop of sewing machine oil to each tap and then cover them with Vaseline to keep the oil in.

If one or more of your burners doesn’t seem to generate a flame then it may be because a gas jet has become clogged.

If you lift the burner out of the barbecue you will see the small brass jets - these are like a small covered nut with a tiny hole through them. They can be simply removed with a small spanner. If you can’t clear the blockage, buy new ones from a barbecue shop.

Reconnect the gas and check all the connections by coating them with a mix of 50/50 dishwashing liquid and water. If gas is leaking you will detect bubbles forming in the mixture. Try tightening the connections or replacing the seals.

Follow these simple hints and tips and your barbecue will last for years.

Dont leave me now lest my sweet breath would cease
Dont leave me now else my whole body would freeze
Dont leave me now that Im crying on my hurting knees
Else I may never give my heart away again on lease

If you leave me right here and walk away from my life
Id not even think about slitting my throat with a knife
This life will still go on and Ill definitely remain alive
But without you right here how do you want me to survive

If you leave me right here and walk away from my life
Id not even think about slitting my throat with a knife
This life will still go on and Ill definitely remain alive
But without you right here how do you want me to survive

Cant you see I trust you with every bit and inch of my heart
And never ever want to imagine the both of us live apart
If you leave today I shall never find another to believe
Thats why Im still begging you to stay and never leave Why You Don't Write Your BookSuzanne Falter-BarnsIn the ten years that I’ve taught people how to get on with
their books and creative projects, I’ve noticed a phenomenon
that I’ll call “Author’s Block.” Would-be writers can, indeed,
sit down and work when pressed to it. The problem is that
they’re not so sure they want the pressure of being an author.
But they do want it. But they don’t. And so on.

Ah, the agony of getting on with your book.

Well, I’m here to diffuse that situation with a list of the key
reasons we have trouble sticking to our writing or other
creative projects. Perhaps this will help the next time you find
yourself polishing doorknobs instead of sitting down to work.

Check all that apply to you:

You Lie To Yourself About Why You Can’t Write The Book

You think your stalling is about lack of time, or too much
pressure at work, or not enough solitude in the evening. But
guess what? Chances are a deeper, darker reason may be at play,
like ‘I’m not supposed to be bigger than Mom’ or ‘What if this
thing really takes off?’

You Fear The Impact Your Book Could Have

Sometimes when I coach writers in my Self-Help Author’s Crash
Course I’ll ask them what’s impeding their progress. And after
some probing, it will come out that they’re afraid of the big
exposure a book can have if it takes off. I’m here to assure you
that should that happen, (and chances are your book will not
unleash wild mobs of millions) you will be able to handle it.
How do I know? On that deep level where psyche meets karma, you
won’t create a single reader more than you’re ready to receive.

You Think Your Book Doesn’t Matter, So Why Bother?

One writer I know put this succinctly: “I’ve tried getting up at
5AM to write, or staying up late, or even leaving my home, but
none of it works. I have this tired feeling that none of my
effort is going to amount to a hill of beans.” In fact, writing
and publication can be an entirely self-determined activity
these days. If the publishing pundits don’t go for your book,
there’s always the option of self-publishing paperback editions
or e-books and selling them on online booksellers or your
website. In other words, your book DOES matter, and you really
have no excuse. (Acid test: if the book keeps on patiently
urging you to sit down and write it for months and even years,
chances are you’d better do it.)

You Think You Don’t Know How To Write A Book

Guess what? Neither does any other first time writer. And that
may be a wonderful thing. As a beginner, you don’t approach your
book project with a carload of professional expectations and
demands from your process. You can just be open, like well, a
nice blank book. All you really need is your intuition to guide
you, and the will to write your book as honestly as you can.

You Have No Support

You need someone in your corner, cheering you on, to get through
the long and somewhat tiring process of birthing a book. Because
writers need a way to show up and be accountable for their
progress. They need someone to keep saying, ‘Yes, you really can
do this,” or even “How’s it going?” Minds can be tricky and
difficult when fully challenged by something like a book. And
steady external support is the best way around that.

You’re Afraid You’ll Run Out Of Material

There isn’t a writer out there who hasn’t had this fear. And I’m
here to say that if you just stay loose and open, and willing to
receive the ideas, they will show up. All you have to do is
commit - really sit down, and begin to bring that book into
being - and the work will magically appear. Sometimes it won’t
flow that easily, and sometimes it will scare you with its speed
and power. But it will, indeed, show up.

You Think ‘Who Am I to Write a Book?’

And yet, you are the perfect person to write your book, because
you’re the one chosen to receive this material. (You don’t have
to be spiritually inclined to believe this.) I personally
believe that books are given to us when we’re ready to receive
them and when we do, our lives are changed by that process.

You Fear Uncomfortable Moments

Ah, but that’s the most exciting thing about writing your book.
You will be given challenges and lessons that just seem
untenable along the way. And if you’re committed enough, you’ll
rise above them and so become stronger in the process. This is
especially true for self-help books: we naturally write what we
need to learn.

Got a few categories checked off from the list above? Good!
Awareness is the first step to diffusing your fears. Meanwhile,
PLEASE do get on with your book despite your misgivings. Not
only do you deserve this work - so do we.

Sequnned Suits & Platform Boots

Fancy coming up to my bedroom? There isnt a chair but the beds comfy. You can lie down on it if you like but take the pink nylon bedspread off first or my ol ladyll go bananas and knock you for six!

So what do you think then? Do you like my room? I’m a teenager now y’know - youll find no daft kittens on my wallpaper, thank you! Oh no, those huge orange and pink flowers are very modern, especially as theyre teamed with a bright pink nylon carpet and orange curtains. But have you noticed the ceiling? Every other polystyrene ceiling tiles painted orange. Is that cool or what?

So now youre here, what do you fancy doing? Oh, you want to look in my wardrobe? Hmmm there are a few embarrassments in there, but theyll probably be stuffed at the back so you wont see them and hopefully Ill have something there to impress you with. How would I live with the shame if you thought my clothes werent trendy?

Its quite a nice wardrobe isnt it? Notice the agreeable combination of white and teak formica? And what do you think of those funky looking V-shaped brass look knobs? Yes, I realise that some of the brass colours flaking off and you can see the plastic underneath, but on the whole its nice, dont you think?

Im just gonna have to move this whopping great velvet donkey out of the way or I wont get the wardrobe door open. My uncle went to Spain yknow, on one of those package tours that are all the rage at the moment. Went on a plane he did, and brought me back this donkey. Its stuffed with straw and its plastic eyes come out but were not fussed about safety standards and all that so I was dead chuffed with it. Theres a little flamenco lady on the dressing table, if youre interested. Be careful not to mess up her dress though.

Sorry? What did you say? Oh, youre still waiting to see my gear! Ill just get some out for you and chuck em on the bed. Those striped tank tops are nice arent they? The brown, orange and yellow ones really nice, but the purple and pink ones my favourite. I usually wear it with this pink suede mini skirt. Mind you, lurex is all the rage at the moment, so I wear these black and silver bell-bottoms quite a bit too, usually with this black satin blouse and my white leather-look Donny Osmond cap. Not that I like Donny Osmond, but the caps cool. The trousers look a bit long but thats because theyre made to be worn with platform shoes. Mum says Ill break my ankle wearing em, but if she thinks Im gonna wear those awful Clarks t-bar shoes she bought me, shes got another think coming. Oh look, my old red bibbed hotpants! Id almost forgotten I had those. Theyve kind of gone out of fashion a bit now, but I lived and died in them last summer. To be honest, Im trying to persuade my mum to buy me a mohair tonic skirt. Yknow, that iridescent material thats all the go at the moment? My mates got a suit, but I know I wont get that so a skirts gonna have to do. Ill need a Ben Sherman to go with it though.

Ive got some t-shirts and things in my dressing table drawers, and if you like, you can have a look through my make-up bag. The glitter eye shadows pretty cool, especially the purple one. If you cant find it on the dressing table itll be on the floor next to my hairdryer. Yknow, one of those with a huge plastic hood that fills up with warm air when you attach it to the blower. I used to wish my mum would buy me a proper hairdryer though, cos getting your hair to flick under at the bottom with one of those isnt easy yknow, but since I had my hair cut in a DA (ducks arse - so named because of the layering at the back) I dont really use it much.

Oh, careful! You just knocked my jewellery box down. Its mostly tat but I like the chokers, especially the royal blue velvet one with a cameo stuck on the front. I wear the mood ring sometimes too.

Hold on a second. Dont open that cupboard or everythingll fall out. Its just full of old Jackie and Popswop magazines and old games. What games? Oh, yknow, the usual sort of thing mousetrap and ker-plunk are in there, and I think Ive still got Twister. Theres a pair of clackers in there too, but mum doesnt like me using them. She says theyre dangerous, that you can break your fingers with em, but I think its just the racket they make that she cant stand. Look please dont open it. Oh no! Youve gone and found my old Cindy dolls. No, I dont play with them anymore, but I havent the heart to chuck em either. I used to have a Tiny Tears doll too yknow, but my so-called friend pulled her head off. If you fed her a bottle of water she actually peed herself.

Look, why dont we just listen to some music? Ive got a cassette player on the shelf and Ive taped some really good tracks off my albums. We only have a radiogram downstairs so I cant do any direct taping, but holding the microphone close enough to the speakers works pretty well. Thats how I get music off the radio yknow. The radiogram sods up your records a bit, but only because of the stacking. When you keep dropping them down on each other they end up scratched. Its always a laugh playing a 33rpm album at 45 though. Ours has 75rpm on it too, so mum can play her old Mario Lanza LPs. I wish she wouldnt though. Dad says hes gonna get a proper music centre, one with a clear vinyl lid, but it hasnt happened yet.

Heres a good cassette. Ill just pop it on. Thats the dog barking in the background, but you can still hear the music ok. Im a bit fed-up with Sweet now coz my mate kept playing Ballroom Blitz over and over for two whole days, so Ill just fast forward past that one. There, Alvin Stardusts better. Oo, oo, my cooca choo nah nah nah. The Glitterband are the best though. Theyre Garys backing band but have become quite famous in their own right since releasing Angel Face. The drummers drop dead gorgeous. Oh just the thought of those biceps! Ive been to a few of their concerts yknow and met a couple of the band. Not Pete though, I’m still working on that. Its dead easy to find our where pop stars live you just look em up in the phone book. Hardly anybodys ex-directory. I bet theyve got those cool-looking tow-tone Trimfones too.

Oh dont put that tape on. Its just old Jackson 5 and David Cassidy stuff. Yknow, somebody predicted that Michael Jacksons skin would eventually turn white but I dont believe it. Here put this one on instead. Its full of Rubettes, Mud, Wizzard and T-Rex. Did I tell you about my mates big sisters friend? Evidently shes a Rubette groupie! Her and her mate follow them around on tour and sleep with them after concerts. Can you believe that? Id call them slappers but the term hasnt been invented yet so tartsll have to do. Some of the boys would probably call them slags but I hate that word.

Anyway, Ive gotta go out soon. My dads driving me round to my mates house in his Cortina (I wish hed get a Capri) cos were going to the pictures to see Stardust tonight. David Essex is in it yknow. Oh, hes got gorgeous eyes! I hung some furry dice in my dads car once, but he took them out. The man just doesnt have taste!

If you fancy visiting the 70s again, youre welcome to pop round any time. I probably wont be in, but mumll look after you. You might have to sit and watch The Golden Shot with her though, if you can put up with Bob Monkhouse that is.

Now where did I put my Yardley perfume..?

Mary was dumped by her boyfriend. Everywhere that Mary went the gossip was sure to go. Her work mates were of no help whatsoever. When she got within hearing distance of them, they’d pretend to be nice to her. And he was tired of hearing the same old phrase over and over…

“Don’t worry girl, there’s lots of other fish in the sea…”

The day dragged on and on. The paperwork was unrelenting. The boss was a pain, the stupid secretary kept staring at her, the jerk in the next cubicle was already trying to ask her out, the copier was messed up because someone had photocopied his butt as a prank… one of the major reasons why office copiers quit working. Mary was annoyed!

Finally the workday was over! She went home, locked herself in the house, ripped the phone cord out of the wall, and isolated herself from the rest of the world, sinking deeper into the Sea of Self-Pity. “Who cares about the other fish? I want the one that got away!” she muttered to herself. All that wasted time, the waiting for the right fish to come. Waiting and baiting, luring and scoring…

…And then the yanking away! Another trophy fish… Gone.

She grabbed her diary and pen from under her bed and made herself as comfortable as possible. She jotted her thoughts…

To be cont’d at http://reelinthefish.net/morefishinthesea.html

Surviving The Flu

An aggressive flu hit the western United States over the holidays. The California and Utah health departments reported widespread outbreaks in the first part of the year and a rash of cases have cropped up in nearby states.

The most vulnerable are babies, the elderly, and people who have trouble breathing. These people should see a doctor, according to Roger Baxter, the chief of infectious diseases for Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California region.

The flu can cause death, especially in the very young and very old. However, the flu strains have become more dangerous, resulting in serious complications for some people.

The bright spot, says Joseph Bresee, an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is that the vaccine seems to be working well against the most prevalent strain of flu.

The fist step to preventing a serious bout of the flue is to get a flue shot early in the year. There are many myths associated with the flu shot. The shot is safe and it is effective.
It is important to get the shot early in the season as it typically takes two weeks for the body to build immunity.

Cleanliness is vitally important. There is no solid proof that anti-bacterial hand washes prevent the flu, but they do help. It is a common myth that the flu is air-born. Most flu strains are passed on by touch.

The most important thing is to clean surfaces daily. This includes commonly touched surfaces like the telephone, door handles, the remote control, light switches, faucets, cell phones, car steering wheels, and keyboards.

Viruses are transferred by touch, but they enter the body through the nasal passages, eyes, and mouth. This is why washing should be done several times a day in the flu system. The area around the finger nails, nose, and mouth should be given extra attention.

People need to remember that they will bring most viruses home from work, the market, and friend?s homes. It is important to keep gloves clean, and to leave all outdoor clothing in a closet at the front of the house.

Caution is the key. The old saying, ?it is better to be safe than sorry,? applies to protecting a home from viruses.

Avoiding sick people should be a key focus. This can be impossible. The next best thing is to avoid touching common surfaces like copier buttons, doorknobs, and bathroom fixtures. If there is someone at home in a high risk category, then wearing plastic gloves in the bathrooms, is not an excessive caution.

Many people overlook the most common methods of preventing the flu. Reduce stress, sleep eight hours, exercise, eat well, and maintaining a positive mindset will improve your immune system. Changing bedding frequently in the flu season will decrease the amount of bacteria and viruses the body needs to deal with.

Once the body is protected, and the total level of viruses and bacteria it needs to fight are decreased, then supplements can be added. These can range from ginger and peppermint, to herbal remedies, or drugs.

Is Satellite Radio For You?

Well if you like to listen to music the answer is yes!

But you probably already have a radio that works quite nicely and are wondering why you might want to switch, right?

Satellite radio is a paid subscription - it works via a satellite feed so you can listen to the radio anywhere you want and there is no range restrictions so your favorite song won’t become garbled with static as you drive down the road out of range.
It works like satellite television, except it can travel with you. A satellite radio can go in your home, your car or you can carry it around with you. It provides crystal clear digital sound no matter where you are and is commercial free.

Satellite radio can really open up the range and choices of music. With satellite radio subscriptions, you typically have access to several music channels, which reach all genres and subgenres of music. The best providers will also provide you dozens of channels for the latest news, talk radio, and information, along with local traffic and weather forecasts and all the sports events you could want.

XM Radio is rapidly growing and services over 2 million listeners providing 68 music channels. With this satellite radio, you can get country, rap, classical, bluegrass, rock, reggae and most anything else you can imagine. IN addition, there are over 30 channels just for news , sports, talks shows and other entertainment programs that don’t include music. And if that’s not enough there is another couple of dozen channels that provide weather and traffic for most major cities.

If you want satellite radio you will need a reciever and antennae to pick up the satellite feed. This equipment is state of the art, and the best subscription services also offer AM and FM as well as CD accessibility. Satellite radio can be set up to work with your existing home entertainment system, in your car or as a portable that you can bring with you.

Some of the new satellite radios and receivers are quite small and lightweight and good for carrying around. All satellite receivers will conveniently display the channel, song title, and artist name. If it’s a sporting event, they abbreviations for each team will be shown so you can find that game you are looking for instantly instead of having to wait until the announcer mentions one of the teams.

Of course, satellite radio is perfect for listening to in the car since you won’t have to fiddle with tuning knobs or try to find a new station as you drive out or range of what you are listening. Coneniently, many new cars are coming equipped with satellite radio service and even offer it free for 30 days. Don’t worry, though if you don’t want to pay for the service after your trial is up, your radio receiver will still work with the usual AM and FM channels.

Selling Metal Detectors

A metal detector should not be bought solely on the suggestion of one
person (no matter how good a friend). If you are new to the hobby, you
should realize that long time detector users can be very committed to the
particular model and brand of detector that they have been using. They
are generally unfamiliar with anything newer or different. Be it out of
sheer hobby or more on the professional level, you really would not
perform well treasure hunting if you do not have a good metal detector
to explore with.

Metal detectors are electronic devices
that are used to find traces of metal usually from the ground, a person, or
cargo. This metal could be anything from discarded pieces of aluminum to
buried treasures. These devices can penetrate sand, soil, wood and other
non-metallic substances.

Selling Metal Detectors

Like in any other business venture, knowledge in metal detecting is
required before selling any product. As a seller, you must be acquainted
with at least the most rudimentary information about metal detectors and
how to search. Your business will be more assured of profit if your
consumers can rely on your familiarity with the subject and quality of your
goods.

So before you leap into this business, here are some useful facts that you
need to know. What are the parts of a metal detector?

The basic parts of a metal detector are the stabilizer, control box, shaft,
and search coil. The stabilizer keeps the unit steady while in use while the
control box contains all the circuitry and controls. The search coil is the
part that actually discerns the metal while the shaft connects the search
coil and the control box. As a seller, however, it is best to familiarize
yourself with the different models and types of metal detectors. Go
beyond the basic parts and study the products that you are selling. Focus
on special features, variety, and price ranges.

Where should my metal detector business be located? Any area that is
near the beach is a good location for this kind of business. Beginners
usually scout beaches and this is a good place to attract their business.
Also you may try setting up a store in places that have a more dramatic
history than others as hobbyists tend to flock to these sites.

Some cant perform as much. This is decided by the battery life of the
device you are going to purchase. Also decide if you rather have extra
batteries or if you prefer to get a charging kit. Most detectors will perform
as promised by the Manufacturers. However, different brands of detectors
will have various characteristics and features. Some detectors may require
different swing speeds and some may weigh more than others. Yet
another feature to consider (for ease of travelling and packing) is the
number of sections that the detector will separate into.

Any place there is construction and the ground is being cleared, that is a
great place to start treasure hunting. Successfull treasure hunting starts
with having the right metal detector. But which type of metal detector
should you get? Complete info on metal detectors and treasure hunting
he man of the house would have buried a cache of money someplace
that could be seen from the bedroom window. Loose change could have
been dropped when getting in or out of vehicles. If you are planning to
buy a metal detector, you should check out the features of each before
buying one. Metal detecting is a fun hobby but having the wrong
equipment can cost you time and money.

Metal detectors work on the principal of electromagnetics and their
effects on conductive metals. There are actually two separate elements in
the coil of a typical unit. One is a high-powered coil of metal which uses
the battery power to generate a penetrating magnetic field. A cheaper
and more efficient way of selling is through the internet. This lets you do
away with the overhead costs of putting up and maintaining an actual
store. You also reach a wider customer base as anybody interested can
easily purchase from you online.

To whom should I sell metal detectors?

Everybody is a prospective buyer. Individual enthusiasts of this hobby are
sure customers. The problem by selling on a per person basis is that it
limits the amount of business you can transact. A suggested way of
expanding your clientele is by getting in touch with metal detecting clubs.
They provide an instant flock of consumers plus you know that the club
members will return to you for all their detecting needs.

Know your clients and know your product. Be sure that you are ready to
answer the questions curious clients might ask. Remember, a seller who
knows how to describe and operate his wares will sell more. It is also
better if you will try out metal detecting yourself. That way you can
experience it first hand and know exactly what a client needs and what
they are looking for. So study, but more importantly, you should love this
activity before you sell it. Come find out more on metal detector reviews
in order to pick the perfect one today!

As more and more contemporary children seem to have major family
problems compared to years past, it is absolutely critical that both you and
your team thoroughly know mental health basics. Since studies emphasize
that seeing and helping distressed youth are the primary ways to prevent
school shootings, that’s another reason that non-mental health youth
professionals like educators must upgrade their skills right away.

Schools everywhere are using metal detectors to help filter out violence.
The metal detectors can very easily (for this is why they are used) detect
a knife or gun. Police stations and Airports use them as well. It does,
however, have its own downsides. Some say that the knobs of the Pro
XL are quite loose and when adjusting it, you have to be careful not to
hit it with your arms. It is quite sensitive and bumping it may require you
to start or reset the adjustments. Some users put a rubber band around
the knobs to keep them from moving or becoming loose.

The Garrett Enforcer G-2 is the smallest body scanner and sensitive
enough to detect even the smallest of knives or guns. The most popular
one is the Super Scanner. It can detect hatpins as small as one inch.

A Decorator Door Hanger

We use them to enter and exit a room on a continual basis. If you want to brighten them a little more, add some extra design to door knobs and doors with this project. Make several and give as gifts.

MATERIALS

* 1 Piece cardboard 7″ x 12-14″ (or smaller, depending on the size and shape you want it to be)

* Craft felt or fabric (plain or holiday print, but not too flimsy)

* Decoupage or craft glue

* Cord trim 14″ long (or the size of the shape outline and 1/4″ - 1/8″ overlap)

* Various decorative items: flat and/or 3-D plastic or wooden shapes, or holiday items and decorations

* Scissors

* Compass or large glass (for drawing a circle)

INSTRUCTIONS

*Note: Measure how large you want the Door Hang to be, based on each door you’re decorating. Be careful to not make it so wide that opening and closing the door becomes awkward because of it. Do not have the edge of it meet the edge of the door; make it at least an inch more narrow than that.

1) Cut and round the top and bottom corner edges of the cardboard piece that you’re using so they’re not pointed but curved.

2) Using a compass or a large glass, etc., draw a circle on the center top area of the cardboard. Be sure to leave at least a 1 inch rim of cardboard framing the cut out portion of the cardboard in order to be able to hang the item on the door knob. Make sure that the circle you’re cutting out will leave a hole large enough to fit over the door knob so it can be slipped on and off easily.

3) Cut out the circle. It won’t be used, but you can save it for a smaller recycling craft project.

4) Place the finished cardboard shape “pattern” on top of the back of the piece of felt or fabric that you’re using. Trace around the edges of the cardboard, making sure to include drawing around the hole that was just cut out.

5) Cut the fabric to fit the exact shape of the cardboard.

6) If using decoupage, work very quickly to paint the decoupage onto the cardboard and place the fabric or felt on top. Press quickly as you smooth the fabric to remove any air bubbles. (THIS DRIES VERY QUICKLY SO TRY AND GET THE FABRIC IN POSITION BEFORE IT DOES!) You can use a mixture of half craft glue and half water instead of the decoupage. Test a small, extra piece of the fabric first though to see if the glue/water mixture seeps through. It takes longer for this to dry, but it also gives you a little more time to get the fabric or felt placed just right on the shape.

7) When it is dry, glue a piece of the cording around the entire edge of the Door Hang to cover the edge of the cardboard. A hot glue gun works best for this, but craft glue can be used. It just takes the craft glue longer to dry. You can also cover the back of the shape in the same way in which you covered the front. If you do this, wait until it is dry as well before gluing on the cording around the edge rim.

Finish decorating the front by gluing on the embellishments you’ve chosen.

9) When dry, hang on the door knob and enjoy or wrap as a gift.
