How Cool are You? A Review of Maybelline’s Cool Effects Eyecolor

So you say you’re feeling a little funky. You wouldn’t mind a little glitz and glamour, but nothing in your makeup kit is quite up to the challenge.

For less than four dollars a tube in most stores — a good buy for eyeshadow — Maybelline’s Cool Effects might be just what the doctor ordered. Available in six different shades, Cool Effects is glimmery, shimmery, and oh-so-cool.

As a self-confessed makeup junkie, and raccoon-like in my adoration of all things shiny, I snatched up Cool Effects in a variety of colors as soon as they hit the market.

Gel-like in consistency, the shadow is remarkably cool, a definite perk on a humid, hot August morn. Of course, coolness is not really a reason that I buy eyeshadow. More important, by far, is how it looks, and Cool Effects has a great look.

Used sparsely (and by sparsely, I mean a pinhead drop of the gel), Cool Effects is little more than a veil of color. Done this way, the look is romantic and light — perfect for a summer event, though perhaps a bit sparkly for the office.

Add a little more color, and what you get is pure drama. “Cool Beans” is just right for a big night out, and what could be more perfect than “Cool as a Cucumber” for a holiday party? For those of you uninitiated to Cool Effects, “Cool Beans” is a deep bronze, and “Cool as a Cucumber” is a terrific green.

If you reach for a color like “Cool Cat”, you might even try it at the office. “Cool Cat” — a pale, shimmery copper — is probably the only color I’d grab for everyday use.

But ease of use is where Cool Effects falls short. The gel is difficult to blend, and it’s all too easy to come away with an uneven, blotchy effect. Blending is tedious, and if, like me, you favor a more dramatic look, beware. With the heavier application of colors comes another dilemma. If you don’t keep your eyes closed while until it dries completely, Cool Effects creases badly.

Oh, and be sure to have a sink handy. For best results, you’ll need to apply it with your fingertips. I’ve tried with cotton swabs and makeup sponges, but they just don’t do the same job. Unfortunately, on a few occasions I’ve had to go back and wipe shimmery fingerprints from doorknobs or faucets.

If you wake up feeling wild and crazy, or if you’re just a cool cat at heart, Cool Effects is definitely worth a try. So be daring. Experiment. Go ahead and mix the colors — I won’t tell. Just don’t be too quick to toss out your old favorites. Cool Effects isn’t for everybody, and it certainly isn’t for everyday.

Today’s Great Time Management Mistake

Time Management is Important - But Don’t Schedule Tasks to Time Anymore

Time Management usually involves scheduling activities to time. This however has been the straw on the camel’s back for many people.

This is one of the worst things that people attempt in time management that have only the very best of intentions wanting to get more organized and productive.

Trying to schedule activities for our time management does not last does it? There are too many distractions and changes in mood, preference, suitability, and importance of tasks and projects and responsibilities.

Then we beat ourselves up about it, feeling guilty, and become even less motivated and thus less successful and more overwhelmed than before! Yes?

Consider not scheduling your activities to time.

Top tip: It actually usually works much better to just wing it by jotting a few things down on paper you want to get done, than to try scheduling many activities/tasks to time. You will also enjoy your time more whilst being much more effective too.

So what can you do instead of scheduling activities to time and beyond just jotting down a few tasks per time?

My Localization Breakthrough

In my coaching I show clients to ‘localize’ their activities, before ’scheduling’ them.

Doing similar activities in one place in one go, and combining activities for time management leverage.

Alternatively said: ‘keep your socks in one place!, and set up personalized cock-pits’.

Similar activities (like putting on your left sock and your right sock) should be done at one time. It’s amazing how people understand this for socks, but miss it for things like phone calls, or going through mail, or shopping.

Do similar activities together in one time management ‘mini-day’, arrange to do all the weeks shopping (including clothes, food, electrical items, presents, etc) on the same visit to the shops.

Ok, the cock-pit analogy. Well the visual is that of an airplane cock-pit, with hundreds of lights, buttons, dials, and knobs, to give the pilot efficient control and access to all he might need, even when things get a little rough.

We perhaps do not need all areas of our life arranged so intricately for effective time management, but in general, work out ways to save time, or make best use of time, by having things where you need them.

Do you have an envelope opener next to where you open your mail?
Do you have a clutter free desk draw for those things you often want access to whilst at your desk? Like headset for computer conversation, telephone, current frequently referred to books, stationery case.

Some of my clients initially feel this is pedantic. Consider that being tightly efficient with the locations and proximity of items and tools you use regularly can actually get you working on tasks nearly twice as fast. This means a massive increase in time management efficiency.

Every room should be so arranged: the bathroom should be ready for efficient use, and you could take it that much further by having speakers in there so you can listen to talking CDs to learn something whilst you shave and wash in the morning. Now that’s my kind of time management vision.

The kitchen too could have speakers. I’ve got worksheets for vocal exercises and physical exercises that I often do whilst I cook!

Personalise your environment, be aware of optimizing your time management by arranging things just how you like and want them.

What’s the worse area (cock-pit) you’ve got set up right now?

How much time would it take to get a couple of key areas better organized?

What’s the best areas right now?

How can you localize activities and tasks for your time management?

Spending genuine hard-nose thinking time on this, and being open to the possibilities can and will significantly enhance your time management.

Simple Tips to Build the Best Metal Detecting Equipment

A third style, the Printed Spiral, is made only by Tesoro for use with pulse
induction circuitry. It offers good sensitivity to a broader range of target
sizes and improved sensitivity to less conductive targets such as fine gold
chains. All searchcoils are electrostatically shielded and waterproof. If you
were one person who loves adventure in the form of treasure hunting,
then a metal detector would be one of your necessary equipments. Find
out more about metal detectors at metal detector info site.

Hand-held Metal Detectors are designed to safeguard security-sensitive
areas like schools, courtrooms, corrections facilities, sports events,
businesses, nightclubs, bars and other public areas and events. They are
used along with walk-through metal detectors. Metal detectors come
with a control box that contains the circuitry, controls, speaker, batteries
and the microprocessor; a shaft that connects the control box and the
coil; a search coil that actually senses the metal; and a stabilizer that keeps
the unit steady as it is moved.

Simple Tips to Build the Best Metal Detecting Equipment Kit

The most important tool for a painter is a paintbrush while a writer derives
the most use from a pen or pencil. As for the metal detecting aficionado,
one tool he can never live without is a reliable metal detector. Metal
Detectors: The Most Important of All Metal Detecting Equipment

The Brand Says It All - With a superior brand, you can expect your metal
detector to be more reliable and have better warranties and post-sales
services and support. Of course, with a high-end brand, you can definitely
expect the price go up as well. Purpose - Some metal detectors are
better suited for coins and relics while other metal detectors are primarily
designed to detect gold deposits. If you’ve a specific find in mind, you’ll
be able to make a more accurate purchase. Without one, it’s better to
purchase either an all-around metal detector or one for each metal
detecting category.

Location - Similarly, metal detectors are also usually built to better suit a
specific setting. Some are better suited for underwater use while others
will perform more admirably on ground.

Features - This depends on what kind of features you are most in need
of; basic features that all metal detectors must possess are volume
adjustability and sensitivity control. Keep in mind that the more features
the metal detector has, the higher the price tag will naturally be. Metal
detectors using PI (Pulse Induction) technology often makes use of a
single coil or even a series of coils that works as a receiver and the
transmitter. The short bursts of electricity are allowed to pass through a
coil or wire which causes magnetism.

Look for depressions showing where large trees might have been. The
place where a clothes line might have been and outside under the
kitchen window are two places the lady of the house might have laid
something down or dropped something.

Any place there is construction and the ground is being cleared, that is a
great place to start treasure hunting. Successfull treasure hunting starts
with having the right metal detector. But which type of metal detector
should you get? Complete info on metal detectors and treasure hunting
at detect-metal.info. A good way to view the purchase is to decide how
much money you are comfortable spending. It is our view that you
measure this purchase against other purchases you have made.

As with other electronic equipments, innovations seems to always happen
overnight. If you are going to buy a metal detector today, try to know
that technologies are currently employed. You do not want to be behind
the technology line, right?

Mention the words metal detector and you’ll get completely different
reactions from different people. For instance, some people think of
combing a beach in search of coins or buried treasure. Weight and Size -
A tall individual will naturally have difficulties managing a short metal
detector while a physically challenged person will definitely tire more easily
if he has to navigate scores of miles with a heavyweight metal detector.
Do remember that metal detecting will require you to walk for a long
period of time, so it’s important to buy a metal detector that you can
carry and use in utmost comfort.

Brand New vs. Secondhand - If you’re experiencing budget troubles, you
should seriously consider purchasing a secondhand metal detector for the
time being. There’s always time to buy a brand new one when you can
easily afford it.

Making Comparisons - Before making a final buying decision, be sure that
you’ve read all the reviews and compared rates. Without proper research,
it’s very possible that you’ll end up with an inadequate metal detector.
Other Metal Detecting Equipment that’s Worth Investing:

SUV - How else can you reach rough but promising territory without a
vehicle that can survive all types of humps and bumps?

Lights - A head lamp and flashlight will do.

Digging Tools - Once the alarm goes off, the next thing for you to do is
dig.

If you have any doubts about your shopping decisions, never hesitate to
ask an expert. Good luck! How are your “mental detection” skills? Some
youth professionals never notice that they’re working with children in
distress. Not noticing makes it more likely that you might add to the
child’s burdens, and these children already carry a heavy load. You may
also miss any cues that show that this is a child who could one day
explode in violence.

It is responsible for receiving frequencies that bounce back from the
object that the coil detects. This type of detector is best for identifying
different types of metals. Some users put a rubber band around the
knobs to keep them from moving or becoming loose. You should buy a
metal detector that is light weight. This is important when you are
detecting things on a riverbank or body of water.

Prices of used metal detectors vary from $275 to $700 for all-purpose
metal detectors. Underwater metal detectors can cost around $500.

Bathroom Accessories

Accessories are important they can make all the difference; it can turn that plane Jane bathroom unto a designed show place fit for the cover of a magazine.

It just takes some imagination and a little talent to create a total bathroom makeover. First, you should select your theme. Would you like to accessorize your bathroom into like an Egyptian Oasis? How about a Tropical Paradise, or change it up to the mysteries of the orient with an Asian Flair. On a more formal note, why not recreate an English Garden motif in your bathroom, Or how about an under the sea escape. All is possible with just a few changes.

Choose a main color theme have one wall a dark or medium color and the other walls a lighter shade of the same color and or a lighter coordinating color. Instead of the multi colors, you can choose wallpaper, fabric or a nice grass cloth. I wouldn’t have the paper or fabric on all the walls, use it only on one or two walls, to make things interesting. Also by using different mediums on the different walls, it adds dimensions, and creates a larger feel to the room.

Lets get started you can started with fixed home hardware accessories, you will be able to fine your home hardware to match with any theme you can imagine, and a variety of finishes in each style. You should match or choose coordinating hardware. Have your showerhead and handles should coordinate with your matching sink faucets and tub faucets, and tie that in with the knobs on the bathroom cabinets and towel bars.

Loose Hardware such as toothbrush holders, paper holders, tissue covers, and trash receptacles, candleholders, decorative boxes, and jars, are available to match the other the other home hardware accessories you have selected. However, it’s total not necessary to have exact matching accessories, in fact it makes it more interesting if you choose things that coordinate and flow with each other rather than exact matching articles.

Selecting a lamp or lighting fixture to fit with any of these themes will be very easy there are so many styles and finishes out there to choose from, that will fit with any d?cor. Framed mirrors add a lot of charm and interest to your sink area.

A baskets of multi toned rolled hand towels are functional and decorative and add lots of interest. Small stones and or pebbles in unusually shaped clear or translucent glass jars and or vases creates a soothing feel, to add color, use a silk orchid plant standing in the small stones. Adding a shelf with votives candles and jars and vases, make for charming interest, add some pieces that match with the theme you have selected, or try staggering three shorter shelves to stage your art and continue the flow of your theme.

Don’t be afraid of change, you should change up your home and bathroom accessories with the changing seasons and holidays, it keeps things from getting boring to have a change from time to time.

Time Saving (acorn manufacturing company) Tips For Cleaning Your House

Filed under: Iron Art Pull Handle, Texas Knobs N' Things — Admin @ 4:35 am

Time Saving Tips For Cleaning Your House

So, you don’t like doing house work. Can’t afford to have someone clean for you? Here are some interesting tips to help you get out of the house, and out doing something you’d rather be doing.

There are certain things that anyone can get by with doing weekly, monthly, and then those jobs that just need to be done every 6 months to a year. These tips will help you cut down on the time you spend each week, and those we can sweep under the rug for a while!

To start off with I try to do something each night, that way I don’t have to spend a day doing just cleaning. It makes it a lot easier and you get your day off to do exactly what you want to do.

There is some way that those little dust bunnies just come back, no matter how hard we try to dust them away. So the first chore is:

Furniture: Dust all hard surfaces.

Floors: vacuum or mop (dust bunnies love all the tile and hardwood that we have in our homes now)

Now those two things can be done while listening to some good tunes or just catching up on some pent up energy.

There is one thing that we must do every day and that is eat. So I like to clean the kitchen while I’m cooking dinner. I spend a few moments doing the following while I wait for the water to boil.

Kitchen sink: Scrub and disinfect

Appliances: wipe down surfaces

Microwave: clean and deodorize

Refrigerator: Clean interior

Okay so now we have the easy stuff out of the way and we get to do the hard stuff! No one and I really don’t know anyone that likes to clean the bathroom. But it’s gotta be done!

Counters: Wipe down and disinfect

Bathtub/shower: Scrub down and clean

Toilet: Scrub (with a toilet brush) and disinfect

And the last of the weekly chores. Change and Launder the sheets.

The Monthly chores may take a little more time to do, but you’ll find that once you get started it is not to much to take on. Maybe even do just one or two a week.

Upholstery: Vacuum

Kitchen Cabinets: Wipe down doors

Stove Burner Grates: Scrub Clean

Waste baskets: Wipe out (I like to keep those grocery bags in my trash cans, they stay much cleaner)

Moldings: Dust

Door and Doorknobs: Wipe down

Ceiling Fans: Dust

Stove Hood: Degrease and clean

Now we are to the more tedious jobs the ones that we all like to put off till we just can’t any longer. These are the chores that should be done every 6 to 12 months:

Oven: Clean ( I have a self cleaning oven, I like to clean it right before Thanksgiving, that way it is clean for that big Turkey!)

Lamp shades: vacuum or wash and clean

Fabric Shades: wash if washable

Cabinets: Empty and clean

Tile Grout: Scrub

Pillows: Launder or dry clean

Condenser Coil on refrigerator: Vacuum

Comforter: Launder or Dry Clean

Curtains: Wash or dry clean

Windows: Wash inside and out

Mattresses: Vacuum and flip

Drapes: Vacuum

Mini Blinds: Wash

I like to try and have the following done every year or 2.

Carpets: Professionally Cleanned

Liven Up Your Walls With Decorative Plates

Liven Up Your Walls With Decorative Plates

 by: Johann Erickson

Decorative plates are often overlooked when decorating a home. Yet, it’s the details that really make the elements of a room come togetherand decorative plates are a detail present in most rooms. While there are decorative plates that are solely functional in purpose, most have the potential to add to the ambiance of a room. Think about the following wall plate options:

Cover your decorative plates in wallpaper that matches your wall for an understated elegance. You can also use this method to hide outlets on walls that display art.

Wood decorative plates are perfect for a room with a country or colonial flair.

Metal decorative plates come in a variety of textures and materials. Metal wall plates enhance contemporary, Victorian, and rustic decor.

Porcelain decorative plates complement shabby chic, bathrooms, and some Victorian design.

Mirror decorative plates can be used on mirrors, mirrored walls, or even as an eclectic detail in a uniquely decorated room.

Match your decorative plates with cabinets, doorknobs, and furniture hardware. With the wide variety available, you can also tailor them to table lamps and other light fixtures. Since wall plates come in all shapes and sizes, you can match them to the curves of your furniture placement. Matching will cleverly enhance featured pieces in a room without distracting from their appeal.

In addition to decorative plate style, you may want to consider changing the switch itself. Dimmer switches are available as dials, slides, touch pads, and combinations of each. The ability to adjust lighting in each room of your home provides you a way to highlight specific room features or set the appropriate mood.

Decorative plates, often taken for granted, are a versatile design element. They can be romantic, sophisticated, sleek, or fun. First decide what you need your decorative plate to do for a room, and then shop for it as seriously as you would shop for furniture, wall coverings, or carpet.

Christmas Decorating Ideas

Christmas decorations are a visual treat for all and sundry ! From hanging wreaths and mistletoes to decking up the Christmas evergreen, the decorations are fun to no end. And for all the first-timers in Christmas decoration, here’s listed some ways to spruce up homes in the holidays.

Christmas decorations are one inseparable part of the Christmas holidays, without which Christmas would lose all its color, spirit, warmth and charm. And it’s also great to get together with all in the family or the whole gang of friends for the Christmas decorations. Isn’t it a joy untold to watch the hand-crafted stars or bells hung up on the Christmas tree or on the wreaths ? Don’t you feel the festive tickle to see Christmas-themed table-spreads, curtains, napkin-holders, or carpets ? Ideas for Christmas decorations are plenty to satiate the festive craving of all and sundry. And the stores dish out a huge array of Christmas decorations too. You can either buy them home or decorate your home yourself with your own ideas and designs. Here’s enlisted a few for you to get started with your Christmas decorations and Christmas planning.

The easiest and simplest of all Christmas decorations–get empty boxes or cartons and wrap them up in red, green, blue colored papers or colorful Christmas wrappers. Tie ribbons around some and leave them sporadically around the base of your Christmas evergreen or on the mantle.

Hanging cute Christmas stockings make good decorations too for your Christmas d?cor. You can cut out papers or fabrics in shapes of stockings or candy canes, have them colored by the kids and stick them all around the room to add that festive touch on Christmas.
Umpteen stores sell battery-operated candles especially for this holiday and these look radiant in and around your home as also on your Christmas tree. Anyone would like to go for these hassle-free Christmas decorations and give their interiors a total face-lift for the occasion.

A fetching idea for your Christmas decorations would be to deck up your house plants with little stars and bells and to place them on window sills.
Get holly boughs and mistletoes home. Hang them around and watch the magic of Christmas unfold before you. These Christmas decorations are traditionally passed down through ages and never fall out of the hall of fame.

How about this ? Take a pin-up board and pin Christmas-related images or messages on them. You can also fix Christmas cards that you get for the year. This Christmas decoration would be best for your office cubicle or room. So bring your colleagues in the spirit of the holidays instantly as they step into your holiday ‘den’.
Now here’s another to rev up your Christmas decorations–take a white table-spread and stick little paper or fabric pieces in shapes of stars, bells, candy canes, gift-boxes, Santa hats and more.
Deck up your halls in Christmas streamers (bought or homemade) or in Christmas wreaths. You can hang a bunch of bells on the doorway too. Won’t it be sweet to hear the jingles every time anyone enters during the Christmas season ?

Decorate white slender candles with red and green ribbons. Tie them into a bow or just spiral it around. They would swell for sure if placed in a cluster on your Christmas dinner table or over the mantle. Don’t forget to leave a bell carelessly at the base. Your friends, folks or sweetie pie would surely love the shine and shimmer of the bell in the candlelight and you may collect few kudos for such thoughtful Christmas decorations.

For outside decorations, get some Christmas lights home. Glowing bulbs or lighted candles that run on battery would just suit fine outdoors. You can place a big cutout of Santa to welcome your dear ones too. Or you can let loose your own festive ideas.

Play Christmas numbers for the background scores to complement the tree, table and hall decorations. Well chosen Christmas songs are just the right fill for the holiday ambience.

Create cute bows for the special day and have them stitched to curtains or tied to door-knobs or around the glasses on the Christmas table. These Christmas decorations won’t take much time and would be fun to do too. So get on with these.

Well then, welcome the season of joy and brace up to make merry with friends and family–it’s Christmastime folks ! The merriest time of the year is here. So leave your worries behind, deck the halls with wonderful Christmas decorations and share the warmth and joy of the season with all far and near.

Metal Detecting in the Woods

Are you purchasing a detector to use occasionally at a lake or beach? Or
do you now find yourself with more available time and can look forward
spending considerable time with your new hobby? It is a fact that most of
the detectors now in the marketplace are pretty good. If you are
planning to buy a metal detector to join the treasure-hunting fun, here
are some tips to guide you so that youll get the best deal possible. Metal
detectors can be pricey, so youve got to invest your money well.

The metal detectors in airports, office buildings and prisons for example
help ensure that no one is bringing a weapon onto the property.
Consumer oriented metal detectors provide entertainment to people and
give chance in discovering hidden treasures.

Metal detectors are electronic devices that are used to find traces of
metal usually from the ground, a person, or cargo. This metal could be
anything from discarded pieces of aluminum to buried treasures. These
devices can penetrate sand, soil, wood and other non-metallic substances.

Metal Detecting in the Woods

You have done it at beaches, parks and playgrounds, riverbanks, schools,
long stretches of fields, and even at your own backyard. But as an avid
metal detector fan, you are constantly looking for new places to look for
hidden treasures and valuables. Then why not try going metal detecting
in the woods? It will definitely spell new adventures and unique finds, if
you’re patient enough, and if you look hard enough. When metal
detecting in the woods, some of its key aspects; i.e. where there is a
bigger chance of finding valuables include new paths as well as old,
overgrown ones, hiking trails, old wagon trails, old cellar holes, and
foundations. You should look out for these and begin your search there.

In the olden days, paths were made in the woods and which people used
as shortcuts. In their long walks people may have sat on the roadside to
rest or take a break. They would pull out a hanky from their pockets to
wipe their face, and in the process loose change would fall out. Kids
would be playing and running along, not realizing their coins had fallen,
never to be found for years and years to come. Old stone foundations
and old stone chimneys found in the woods, which are the remnants of
houses, are also rare but great places to go metal detecting. Here you
can chance upon rare gold coins or even jars of silver which the families
that used to live there hid for safekeeping. Will smaller children be using
this detector? If this is to be a family detector then it is critical that you
consider the size of the detector including how short the pole can be.
Any place there is construction and the ground is being cleared, that is a
great place to start treasure hunting. Successfull treasure hunting starts
with having the right metal detector. But which type of metal detector
should you get? Complete info on metal detectors and treasure hunting
at detect-metal.info.

A flower garden seen from the kitchen window would have been a good
place for the lady of the house to bury a cache of money. The man of
the house would have buried a cache of money someplace that could be
seen from the bedroom window.

Some cant perform as much. This is decided by the battery life of the
device you are going to purchase. Also decide if you rather have extra
batteries or if you prefer to get a charging kit. If you are planning to buy
a metal detector, you should check out the features of each before
buying one. Metal detecting is a fun hobby but having the wrong
equipment can cost you time and money. Find out more about metal
detectors at metal detector info site.

For walking speed, remember the paint rollerr analogy above. As long as
you are painting the entire surface of the ground and not missing any
spots, you are not walking too quickly. However, if you find that your
imaginary paint is missing areas, you need to slow down your pace.

To learn about old paths and the remaining foundations of stone houses,
do some research by looking through old maps and postcards. Or better
yet, do some investigating by interviewing the “old folks” of the nearest
town. Not only will you get some precious information for metal
detecting, you’ll get a first-hand history lesson too! When going metal
detecting in the woods, you stand a good chance of finding coins,
bottles, and different kinds of relics, depending on the location of the
woods. When metal detecting at any type of location, it is always
important to get the permission of whoever owns the property you are
planning to do your metal detecting on. So do not run the risk of being
caught trespassing by researching the spots you plan to go metal
detecting and finding out if they are privately owned. You must also take
note of the rules and regulations of some locations.

As more and more contemporary children seem to have major family
problems compared to years past, it is absolutely critical that both you and
your team thoroughly know mental health basics. Since studies emphasize
that seeing and helping distressed youth are the primary ways to prevent
school shootings, that’s another reason that non-mental health youth
professionals like educators must upgrade their skills right away.

So next time you loose that ring at the beach or you dime at the park
remember there are ways to find you beloved object. Have Fun. Some
users put a rubber band around the knobs to keep them from moving or
becoming loose. You should buy a metal detector that is light weight.
This is important when you are detecting things on a riverbank or body of
water.

Prices of used metal detectors vary from $275 to $700 for all-purpose
metal detectors. Underwater metal detectors can cost around $500.

How To Buy Furniture On A Budget
Shopping for furniture ought not to be expensive. The following are tips on how to furnish on a budget.

Natural Prevention & Treatment For The Flu: What Your Doctor May Not Know

Flu can affect 10 to 30 percent of the U.S. population each winter. The flu virus can linger in the air for as long as three hours. In close quarters, conditions are ripe for the spread of the virus. That explains why the highest incidence of the flu is in 5- to 18-year-olds, who spend much of their time in school, in close contact with their classmates. The most serious complications occur in older adults, however, especially those in managed care. Do not give aspirin or other “salicylates” to children or teenagers with symptoms of a cold or flu. Don’t bother taking antibiotics to treat your flu or cold; antibiotics do not kill viruses, and they should be used only for bacterial infections. Antibiotic overuse has become a very serious problem, leading to a resistance in disease-causing bacteria that may render antibiotics ineffective for some conditions.

According to a National Survey
OTC cough and cold medication sales totaled 3.2 billion dollars in 1995,
That’s no surprise, considering Americans endure about 1 billion colds each year.

The “experts” are using fear and vaccine shortage to motivate people to get a flu shot, but this is yet another healthcare illusion. Let’s be clear, flu can definitely be a killer disease and is not something that should be easily dismissed. But, remember that flu shots don’t prevent illness–never have, never will. The flu vaccine can actually weaken the immune system and make you more predisposed to the illness. And the side effects of FluMist, cough, runny nose/nasal congestion, irritability, headaches, chills, muscle aches and fever, sound just like the symptoms of the flu. If you decide to get the nasal flu vaccine, you will get not only a live flu virus in each dose but also table sugar and MSG, which are fraught with their own problems. If you take the shot you may get mercury as an added bonus.

Building A Healthy Immune System: Your #1 Offense

1) Detoxify your digestive tract and liver/gallbladder now. Disease often begins in the digestive tract and the liver is the main filter of the body. When either or both of these are sluggish then your body can be ripe for illness. This will prepare your body to readily be able to absorb, utilize and transport the good food and supplements that you will be using. It is good to do this once a month for 3 months then 2xs yearly. I would also recommend a parasite cleanse especially if you consume a lot of non-organic meat.

2) Eliminate all sugar. One teaspoon of sugar can bring the immune system down for up to 6 hours. Natural, healthy substitutes for sugar are stevia, agave nectar and Xylitol. It is best for you to satisfy your taste buds with fresh, organic fruits. Be sure to eat the whole fruit as juicing your fruit will cause your insulin levels to spike. If you crave chocolate chances are you may have a magnesium deficiency.

3) Change your diet. Your immune system will flourish on a diet of organic fruits and vegetables. Two raw salads (use dark green leafy lettuce) a day eaten with lunch and dinner will help to provide you body with much-needed vitamins and nutrients. Incorporate soups and stews into your diet. If you eat meat make sure that it is organic and free-range. Fish should be cold-water and eaten no more than twice a week. Farmed raised fish are not healthy because most of the feed corn derived and therefore you will not get the benefits of the beneficial fatty acids such as DHA and EPA. They also may be exposed to high levels of pesticides. Consider taking Chlorella to remove any mercury. If you are pregnant it is advised that you not eat fish. Cook with organic, unrefined coconut oil (try to consume 2-3 tablespoons daily) and for salads use organic, unrefined, cold-pressed olive oil. Eliminate pre-packaged foods and those foods that are canned or bagged. Purchase organic, free-range eggs and organic butter. Substitute pasteurized/homogenized milk with almond milk. You can also bake/cook with almond milk.

4) Eat a clove of garlic every day. Garlic acts in the body as a natural antibiotic. You must smash the clove in order to realize the immune enhancing properties.

5) Drink half your body weight in pure, filtered water every day. Our body is mostly water. We must put back what we eliminate through breathing, sweating and urination. Water helps the kidneys to continually flush toxins from the body. Make sure that you are drinking pure, filtered water. I recommend distilled with organic apple cider vinegar added to replace the minerals lost through distillation.

6) Exercise every single day. Exercise not only helps with blood circulation and to keep unwanted pounds away but also can help with depression. Exercise helps to move the lymph system, which will in-turn move toxins from the body. Walking outdoors in the sun will help your body with Vitamin D production. For those who dont experience a lot of sunshine it is recommended that you supplement with Vitamin D under the care of a health professional. An article published by the International Journal of Sports Medicine illustrates the effect exercise can have on infections. In this study, only 45 minutes of brisk walking per day was shown to lower the incidence of upper respiratory symptoms, cut the duration of illness in half and increase natural killer-cell activity in people prone to upper respiratory tract infections.

7) Adequate Sleep. Almost 80% of the population is sleep deprived. Sleep is necessary for our body to repair and heal. The body does the most healing between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. There is no such thing as catching-up on sleep as once it is lostit cannot be regained through marathon sleeping on the weekends. Getting adequate rest allows the immune system to repair and be in top condition.

8) Take a good organic multi-vitamin/mineral formula, Vitamin C and a Probiotic. Unfortunately eating organically doesnt always protect us in a perfect manner. Depleted soil conditions has definitely affected the nutrients contained in our vegetables and fruits. I have found one that I consider the Cadillac when it comes to providing the body with everything it needs to continue in health. It is a wise choice to consume 2-3 grams of Vitamin C (sodium ascorbate) daily in divided doses. A good probiotic will help to keep good bacteria in the digestive tract.

9) Wash your hands frequently. Wash your hands in the mornings, after every meal, after all outings, after shaking hands with people, after each trip to the bathroom and before bed. Teach your children to do the same. Do not use antibacterial soaps. The antibacterial compounds found in most of these soaps sold in the United States are likely contributing to the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Use a good all-natural soap from the health food store. Wash with warm water and use a nailbrush along the nail line and in-between fingers. Keep fresh, clean towels available to dry hands. Make sure that you keep your hands away from your eyes and mouth. When away from home, keep a mixture of lemon essential oil, lavender essential oil and distilled water (40 drops lemon essential oil and 30 drops lavender essential oil to 4 ounces of distilled water) in a dark-colored, glass, fine-mist spray bottle. Spray on hands immediately after trips to grocery stores, doctor, etc. or any time you are shaking peoples hands. At home, wipe all doorknobs frequently with this mixture. Keep a bottle at home, in the car and at work. We have these available at Oasis Advanced Wellness in a 2- ounce bottle for $9.95. Make sure that you keep your computer keys and mouse clean at all times. Also keep your phones (cell and landline) receivers clean.
10) Deal with stress. Repeated stress is one of the main causes of a suppressed immune system. Learn to manage your stress with exercise, meditation, deep breathing, walks in nature, good music, Yoga, Pilates and removing yourself from negative situations. Refuse to allow anyone or any situation to make you stressful. There are natural supplements that you can incorporate to help with stress such as B-Complex, Lithium Orotate or SamE.

In Case Of FluItems To Have On HandYour #1 Defense

1) Hydrogen Peroxide. In 1928 Richard Simmons, M.D. hypothesized that colds and flu virus enter through the ear canal. The medical community dismissed his findings. According to Dr. Simmons, contrary to what you may think or have been taught about how you catch the flu or the cold there is only one way that you can catch the two, and that’s via the ear canal not through the eyes or nose or mouth as most have believed. We have found good results in curing the flu & cold within 12 to 14 hours when administering a few drops of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) into each infected ear, (sometimes only one ear is infected) The H2O2 starts working within 2 to 3 minutes in killing the flu or cold; there will be some bubbling and in some cases mild stinging occurs. Wait until the bubbling & stinging subside (usually 5 to 10 min) then drain onto tissue and repeat other ear. A bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide in 3% solution is available at any drug store for a couple of dollars. Although this method is perfectly safe for infant/children to use, the loud bubbling and stinging frightens them, they’ll need someone they trust to put the hp in their ears. (Dont get h2o2 in the eyes- if you do, flush with water)
2) Colloidal Silver. Colloidal Silver is anti-bacterial and anti-viral and has been used for hundreds of years for its antibiotic affect on the body. Most brands are very expensive and are golden in color. This indicates that there are additives in the product. Silver is the whitest of metals and the solution should be clear to a tiny bit white in color. More PPM does not necessarily make a good colloidal silver. In fact the lower the PPM the better able for it to penetrate the cell wall. While some will say that silver has no benefit, this is not what we have found at our house. Call your healthcare professional for therapeutic dosages.
3) Oregano Oil. Oregano Oil can be as an effective pain reliever as morphine. For sinus congestion or stuffiness place 1 drop of oregano oil in 1 ounce of warm water. (more is not better) Make sure that the oil is dispersed. Place 1-2 drops of the mixture in each nostril and sniff. The mixture will burn for about 30 seconds. This will help to break up sinus congestion. Do this 3-4 times daily and before bed. To take orally drop 3-5 drops in a veggie cap and take with food three times daily. Oregano Oil is also anti-bacterial and anti-viral.

4) Vitamin C. Capsules and powder are best. Take up to bowel tolerance. Taking the recommended dosage on the bottle will not be enoughfor preventative purposes, double or triple it. If sick, divide the dosage and take some every hour—up to 6 grams daily. According to Linus Pauling, adults should be taking at least 2-3 grams a day. There is much evidence about increased health with 2 grams a day, and of course even more with 4 or 6 grams a day. Even an extra 60mg had been shown to add value in cutting down the death rate from heart disease, cancer and other diseases. Now my feeling is as people grow older they ought to be increasing their vitamin C and perhaps they should follow the policy that I have followed of increasing the intake. It can be either one chunk, one dose in the morning, or even better three doses throughout the day, increasing the intake until a laxative effect is observed, speeding up the rate of elimination of waste material from the bowel. So my suggestion is every person who wants to have the best of health should increase the intake of vitamin C to somewhat less than the amount that causes significant looseness of the bowel.
5) Drink lots of fresh vegetable juice and pure, clean water. Flooding the body with liquids will help to flush out toxins and will also give the body added enzymes (helps with inflammation and pain) and nutrients.
6) Premier 8 Glyconutrients have been given the title of the new class of missing nutrients or miracle sugars. Scores of studies have linked a deficiency of the extraordinary sugars to everything from lupus and diabetes to heart disease to cancer; from ADHD to infertility. Dozens of illnesses have been linked to an imbalance of these sugars. This is NOT the same as table sugar. Order the book Miracle Sugars by Rita Elkins for more explanation. Glyconutrients may represent the best of preventative medicine and may help with the following: viral infection, fungal infection, parasitic disease, bacterial disease, micro-bacterial disease, auto-immune disease. Providing the immune system with the right glyconutrients helps it recognize infectious organisms more readily. Remember, it is the glycol or sugar portion of both our immune cells and invading organisms that transfer messages. There is only one company (multi-level) that currently offers a similar product for a much higher price. You can get Premier 8 only through Oasis Advanced Wellness.

7) Zinc Lozenges According to Dr. Joseph Mercola, when using zinc lozenges it is important to recognize that they need to be sucked on, NOT swallowed, and smaller doses taken more frequently seem to work better. Suck on a quarter lozenge every 30 minutes. If started early, this approach seems to work well for the majority of people. One caution: if the lozenges make you nauseous they should be stopped immediately as this is a sign of zinc toxicity. Do not use zinc lozenges that contain aspartame.

8) Eucalyptus Essential Oil Diffuse eucalyptus essential oil into the air when sleeping at night. This will help to keep the sinuses and nasal passages open. It is also anti-viral and anti-bacterial. During the day diffuse lemon essential oil in the air, especially to keep other family members from getting sick.

If you take preventative steps now you will be doing yourself and your family a huge favor. Always make sure that you are prepared if the flu happens to hit you or a family member. If your immune system is functioning at a good level then your down time and side effects should be minimal. Talk with your family about the suggestions in this article and then implement as many as possible. You will be glad that you started early!

Home Theatre - What Difference Do Cables Make?
If you go to your local home theater store, you may be confronted by a variety of “extreme” sounding names for cabling: Mega Cables, Monster Cables, Uber Cables… the proliferation of “boutique” cabling is always a source of controversy in home theater and audiophile circles. The question is, how much difference do they make, and are they worth it? Well despite the perils involved in even mentioning this topic, I’m going to attempt to add something to the discussion.

What is Surround Sound and Why Do You Want It?
Whether you are an audio novice or an experienced technophile, this article is for you. Let’s take a few minutes to review the basics of surround sound, and the principles behind it. If you are new to surround sound, this will help you to understand the concept. It will also refresh the memory of those already in the know. These are the basics of sound.

Selling Your Home — 11 Tips For Proper Preparation

Selling a home an be a daunting experience, especially if it’s your first time. But with the right preparation, you can easily increase the likelihood of a sale — and possibly increase your net proceeds as well.

Here then are 11 low-cost tactics that will enhance your home, inside and out.

1. Make the entrance inviting.

A home?s entrance carries significant meaning, both symbolically and structurally. It?s where the homeowner leaves the outside world behind and enters the comfort and sanctuary of home. Treat it accordingly.

2. Remove clutter.

Clutter (too many appliances in the kitchen, too many pictures and knickknacks on the tables, etc.) makes a home seem smaller than it is. It can also put too much of a personal touch on the house. Clear away everything but a few, well-placed design elements.

3. Clean, clean and clean some more.

As a general rule, you can never clean too much before showing your house. This goes hand in hand with the clutter concept above — the cleaner a house, the easier it is for buyers to see themselves in it. It makes the house mentally “transferable” from owner to buyer. And it just plain looks nice!

4. Freshen up the rooms.

Sunlight, fresh paint and a well-placed vase of flowers can do wonders for any room — and for minimal cost.

5. Arrange for space.

Arrange furniture in a way that maximizes space and creates a smooth traffic flow. It might take some trial-and-error, but the spaciousness you create will be worth it.

6. Perform minor repairs as needed.

No how matter how trivial it may seem to you, an item needing repair will send a mental message to buyers. “Gosh, if they didn?t even care to fix that before showing the house, what else have they let go?”

7. Replace outdated fixtures (lights, knobs, etc.).

This falls into the “easy fixes with major impact” department. New lighting and fixtures can make an entire room seem new, even if it?s not.

8. Have the carpets professionally cleaned.

It?s quick, it doesn?t cost much, and it can give much-needed life to carpet. Even if you think your carpet is fine, give it a try. You?ll see the difference afterward!

9. Empty closets and attics to showcase their space.

Remember, prospective buyers are trying to see themselves in each house they look at. It?s a key determinant on whether they make an offer or scratch the house of their list.

Tip: Put half your clothes in a storage unit or in a friend?s house (temporarily). Your closets will seem larger with some emptiness to them.

10. Tidy up the landscaping.

Trim the bushes. Mow and water the lawn. Sweep the driveway and walkway. Plant fresh flowers. Most of these things cost you nothing but time, yet they?ll significantly enhance your overall “curb appeal.”

11. “Neutralize” your paint scheme.

Colors and color preference are subjective things. One person?s favorite color can make another person gasp. To avoid putting off buyers with dominant colors, play it safe with beige, taupe and other neutrals. Remember, the goal is to help people see themselves in the home.

Top Considerations For A Bathroom Redesign

Once you?ve decided it?s time to remodel the bathroom, it?s tempting to rush out to a bathroom showroom and buy your dream fixtures, but that approach will lead to remodel hassles and a busted wallet. With a few key considerations, you can turn your bathroom redesign into a faster, less costly affair with more pleasing results.

1.Style ?Your bathroom should match both the style of your home and your taste. A grand Victorian bathroom would look out of place in a ranch-style house and a Tudor manse is not the place for a space age shower. You could include a fancy showerhead panel though. When in doubt, go with classic styles and clean lines and choose inviting colors that will continue to be popular years from now, but which also suit your tastes.

2.Space ? Some people are fortunate to have vast bathrooms. Others must contend with tiny spaces wedged in as an afterthought. Knowing your space limitations from the beginning gives you a better idea of what?s feasible. You don?t want to end up with an oversized tub you have to step in to get to the toilet.

3.Layout ? Some remodels can make a bathroom worse. If a room is poorly laid out to begin with, simply replacing the fixtures with today?s larger models could make the room more cramped. Before you start, consider how you use the bathroom, especially whether you need a separate shower and tub and a one-sink or two-sink vanity. You may find that your needs and wants are different and can adjust your goals accordingly.

4.Lighting ? Ever tried to shave or apply makeup with a single overhead bulb? Recessed lighting is popular in modern bathrooms, but you should also install ample light over the shower and vanity. Adding light isn?t enough, though. You should also compare the light fixtures to the paint color. Yellow-tinged light bulbs and blue paint could result in your skin looking very green. Aim for a combination that produces natural light.

5.Maintenance ? No one enjoys cleaning the bathroom. Choose surfaces and fixtures that resist stains, mold, and water marks to make maintenance less frequent and cleaning easier.

Keep Your Bathroom Remodel on a Budget

You?ve heard the horror stories about bathroom redesigns that ballooned in time and budget. Don?t fear - it?s possible to hold to a budget by following a few simple tips:

1.Select all your major pieces at the same time. Buying your tub, vanity, sink, and toilet together will ensure that they match. You can then find faucets, showerheads, and other items that accent the major pieces.

2.Shop early and stick with your choices. Nothing blows a budget faster than changing your mind about the vanity two days before it?s due to be installed.

3.Skip the trendy gadgets. An aromatherapy showerhead may sound cool, but how often will you really use it? Bathroom trends quickly change. You can?t go wrong with a showerhead that?s remained popular for years.

Quality Bathroom Fixtures for the Long-Term

If you?re near your budget limit, you might be tempted to skimp on the small stuff like faucet knobs, medicine cabinets, or toilet paper holders. Don?t do it. Cheap bathroom fixtures wear out quickly and the cost of replacing them adds up. Spend a few extra dollars to get quality fixtures that will last for years with minimal maintenance.

A bathroom redesign is a daunting task, but a little thought and careful planning keeps it from being overwhelming.

Creating Landing Pages For Google AdWords (schaub)

Filed under: Ikabp 1-12 Iron Art Knob, Texas Knobs N' Things — Admin @ 3:25 am

Creating Landing Pages For Google AdWords

In creating a Google AdWords campaign, advertisers often spend most of their time creating their ads and researching their keywords. There is often little or no thought to where the surfer will be sent when the ad does its job and generates a click. Often advertisers send the surfer to the home page of their website, hoping the website will do the rest of the work. These advertisers are neglecting a very important part of their AdWords campaign: the landing page. A good landing page is just as important as a good ad, good keywords and strategic bidding. By creating an effective landing page advertisers can increase conversions, which will make their campaigns more competitive and profitable.

When creating your landing page remember to make it specific to the ad that is sending the traffic. As with everything else, the landing page must be highly targeted. If a surfer clicked an ad expecting to find gold plated doorknobs, then you better make sure the corresponding landing page has just that. There is nothing worse than having a customer who is ready to buy but can’t.

The role of your ad is to get clicks. The role of your landing page is to convert those clicks into leads or sales. Make sure you can convert the surfer within 3 clicks or less. If the surfer has to click more than 3 times to buy your product you will probably lose the sale. Ideally you want the surfer to click only twice, once on your ad, and once on your landing page to get to your order page. That’s it. The more clicks you have, the less sales you make.

Remember that surfers are impatient. You need to give them what they want with as little effort as possible on their part. Therefore, it is important to always keep your original objective (conversions) in mind, as well as to refer to the specific keywords and calls to action in your ad, when creating your landing page.

The landing page is where you will use all your copywriting skills to complete the sale. As I said before, the goal of your ad is to get the click, and the goal of your landing page is to get the sale. It is in your landing page where you have all the room you need to explain all the benefits and features of your product or service. It is important to remember that your landing page is your sales page.

Your ad did its job by generating enough interest in the surfer to click through to your landing page. Now you should continue to hook and draw the prospect into your copy to complete the sale. The best way to do this is through a good headline. This headline should hook the prospect by appealing to her self-interest. What’s in it for her? How will your product or service benefit her?

Continue to expand on your headline in your copy with more benefits for the prospect, and support these benefits with the features of your product or service. Do this throughout your copy and with subheadings. Make sure you keep the prospect interested and try to build some excitement in your product or service.

Use plenty of bullets and lists in your copy to show your benefits and features. Bullets are essentially mini headlines. Bullets can be used to summarize all benefits the prospect will gain from your product or service. They can also summarize all the problems your prospect is experiencing and that your product or service can solve.

Headlines, subheadings and bullets are very important aspects of your landing page. As I said above, surfers are impatient and impulsive. They tend to be in a hurry and want instant gratification. As a result, they often only scan the page. If a surfer is scanning your page, they will only read your headline, subheadings, and bullets. It is important that you get all the benefits to the prospect included in your headlines, subheadings, and bullets, for this reason. Of course there are also surfers who will read your whole page, so you will need to have good copy, which provides greater detail and all the information the prospect needs to make a decision.

Pictures are usually very effective, especially if you are selling a product. In this case make sure the surfer gets a good, clear look at the product. Since the surfer cannot touch the product it is important that they get as much visual information as they need. Your copy should support your pictures and your pictures should support your copy. The important thing is that the landing page is focused on what the prospect wants. So if the prospect is looking for gold plated doorknobs, then when they click your ad they should go to a landing page where they only see pictures of gold plated doorknobs, and only read text that describes the features and benefits of gold plated doorknobs.

Finally, at some point you will need to ask for the sale. This all needs to be done on your landing page. Do not ask the surfer to click through to another page and try to close the sale there. You must close the sale on your landing page. The surfer should only have to click through to your order page to provide their credit card information. If you are only looking to generate leads, have the form they need to fill out on the landing page as well.

The landing page is a very important aspect of a Google AdWords campaign. You should spend the same amount of time, if not more, creating your landing page as you do creating your ad and generating your keywords. By creating effective landing pages you can improve the overall profitability of your campaigns. Improving the profitability of your campaign can allow you to bid more per keyword and generate more traffic. In end, the landing page is an integral part of your search engine marketing and should not be neglected.

Protocol for the Introduction of a New Pet to Other Household Pets

When you first bring home a new pet, expect a period of transition and adjustment for the other pets in the household. You may find that some pets hide from the new addition, whereas others might try to push it around. Sometimes the original pets will start behaviors designed to get your attention (including barking, pawing, stealing items, or pushing the addition out of the way and jumping on you).

All of these can be normal and are not worrisome if they change within a week or two. If the animals in the household do not revert to normal behavior within a short time or if they become aggressive, a problem exists that will not go away on its own. The sooner you seek help from a qualified specialist, the better.

Before introducing any new pet, make sure it is healthy, has up-to-date vaccinations, and that test results for fecal parasites are negative. It is particularly important that all new cats are check for their viral titer (feline immunodeficiency virus FIV, feline leukemia virus FeLV) status. Cats with positive results should not be brought into a negative household.

You can make the transition easier for new pets by using gradual introductions. The new pet should be kept separate from the other pets whenever they are not closely supervised. This advice may be extreme, but it is designed to ensure that no injuries occur and that the social situation of the original pets is not suddenly fragmented. The original pet(s) should have access to the same areas of the house as previously. If the dog was crated, the crate can still be used. If access was restricted to the first floor, this pattern should continue. The new pet should be placed in a neutral area (den, finished basement, brightly lit bathroom) with toys, a blanket, water, a litter box if the new pet is a cat, and anything else it might need. It is important that the new pet not be placed in an area that is considered highly desirable by the other pets. Areas of high value usually include places where the people spend a lot of time with the pets (bedrooms) or where the pets choose to stay when they are alone (around food dishes or on window sills that are good perch sites). If your dog is always crated, you can accustom the dog quickly to a new dog by crating the new dog across the room where it can be seen by the original one. As the dogs become more accustomed to each other, their crates can be moved gradually closer together until they are side by side.

Be sure that the area in which you are confining the new pet is pet-proof. This means toilet seats should be down, electric cords should be tied up and put away, sockets should be protected with child guards, and any valuable or fragile items should be moved. New pets will explore, and that exploration should not endanger them. If the new pet is a very young puppy or kitten, you may wish to crate it for its protection. Crates do not afford total protection from willful and determined claws and teeth of an uncrated animal, but they do greatly minimize the risk of damage.

Whenever any animal is isolated for any reason it is critical that the animal receive a lot of social attention whenever possible. This is especially true for new pets. When you come home greet the original pets (make all the dogs sit first) and let them out, if this is your normal routine. Do not rush - when people are stressed and rush they may either facilitate undesirable reactions between the pets or not be as attentive to cues about impending problems as they otherwise would. Introduce the new pet gradually. First, spend some time alone with the new pet. Then bring the new pet outside on a leash or harness and let the other pets explore him or her. If you anticipate problems, the other animals also can be on leashes or harnesses. If you have too many animals to adequately monitor under these circumstances, the new pet can be placed in a crate or cage in the center of a room and the other pets can explore the caged pet.

The best time to perform gradual introductions is when the animals are calm. Start by petting the original pets and telling them that it is “okay” only if it is truly okay; do not reward hissing, growling, and biting. When you tell a pet it is “okay” when it is upset, you are not calming the animal - you are rewarding inappropriate behavior. If the animals in the household are calm and either ignore each other or act friendly despite the new addition, you can feed them within sight of the new pet. This distance should be close enough that they can easily see and watch each other, but not so close that they become upset. Once you find this distance you can move their food dishes closer together by an inch a day until they are side by side. If you ever have an aggressive encounter, back off from that distance and return to the last distance where neither pet reacted. Leave the dishes there for a few days and then gradually start to move them again. Feeding and petting the animals in each other’s presence teaches them that good things happen when they are together and calm. For this to be successful, neither side can react violently. If a pet does react this way, banish that animal to a neutral zone immediately and try again when it is calm. If it again reacts violently, banish the pet for the rest of the day or evening and try later in the day or during the next morning.

Some aggressive and undesirable interactions are not violent but are still not conducive to the development of a good relationship between the pets. You can learn to watch for subtle behaviors that can signal potential problems, should the recipient of the behaviors not be able to change the course of the interaction. In dogs these behaviors include piloerection (hair lifting on scruff, neck, or back), staring, snarling, and pouncing are also threats but are less intimidating to many animals than the display just described. If you believe that the new pet is losing the contest or is terrified, or is becoming so aggressive that it might injure the original pet, separate the animals. Do not put your hands or other body parts between the animals. This is the single most common way in which people are injured by pets. Use cardboard, brooms, loud noises (whistles, foghorns), or water pistols to separate the animals. If you can identify the aggressor, banish that animal to neutral turf. If you cannot identify one aggressor, banish every animal to different pieces of neutral turf.

If the new pet is sitting in close proximity to the other pets and everything seems to be going well, tell all the animals that they are good and give them all small food treats and petting, if they like to be petted. This works best if you have two people so one can hold the new pet while the other deals with the other animals. If you are working with two people, switch roles so that the new pet does not associate its rewards with only one person. This can still be accomplished with one person by using leashes, harnesses, and crates. Leashes can be tied to furniture or doorknobs that are at a distance that will allow pets to sniff each other and react, but not so close as to permit them to lunge at and injure one another. Never leave a tied pet unsupervised even for a minute; it could strangle and die.

The entire time that you are doing this exercise - and it could take hours or weeks - make sure that each pet has 5 to 10 minutes alone with you each day when all you do is pay attention to that pet. This attention could be grooming, playing with a toy, or just petting and massage. Make sure that the pet is happy and relaxed at these times. If you know in advance that you are getting a new pet, you may want to establish these periods of individual attention in advance of the new arrival. If these periods follow a regular schedule, the pets will learn to anticipate them. It may decrease their anxiety about the new addition because they can rely on them.

Once you are able to get the pets to react to each other in a positive manner or not to react at all when restrained, remove the restraints. Be vigilant and keep a water pistol, foghorn, air canister, or whistle with you to interrupt any dangerous situations. If the animals are all behaving well, remember to reward them with praise and treats.

Once you have done the above, you are ready to let the animals out of your sight. Put a bell on the new animal by sewing a bell to its collar so that you always know where it is. This will allow you to spy on any potentially problematic interactions and to interrupt them before they create problems. During this period when you are beginning to provide the pets with free access, remember to provide additional water dishes, litterboxes, beds, and toys so that you minimize competition and the potential for aggressive interaction.

The keys to success are patience and observation. It is critical that the animals are not inadvertently encourage to become hostile or nervous in each other’s presence by well-meant but misplaced reassurance for inappropriate behaviors. Expect that the social system may shift. The dog that you always thought of as the “boss dog” may not only be relegated to a lower position, but may actually prefer that. Let the animals set their own pace. In many cases the pets never become close companions but are reasonably content leading separate lives under the same roof. This is far more preferable to frank aggression. Do not push the animals too hard or push for relationships they clearly do not want; this could backfire and you could undo most of the good behavior that you had achieved.

If the pets have lived in the same household but have begum to have some problems with interaction, the previously mentioned protocol can also help them. The pet that is the victim of the aggression should be fed, walked, and given attention before the aggressor. This reinforces its right to some valued status. If confinement of one pet becomes necessary, confine the aggressor to a neutral or lower quality room. Do not confine the aggressor where it would rather spend time; this only convinces the animal that the contest is meritorious. When you reintroduce the pets, do so gradually as described previously. Move from introductions under controlled circumstances to ones in which the animals are being monitored from a distance. Let their behaviors tell you when you are ready to progress. Put a bell on the collar of the aggressor. At the first sign of any aggressive behavior, and definitely within 30 to 60 seconds of the onset of the behavioral progression, startle the aggressor with a foghorn, air canister, or water pistol. This means that you should not wait to startle the cat until is has pounced on the kitten, but that you startle it as soon as it stares at the kitten. Timing is everything. The startle must be sufficient that the behavior is aborted but not so profound that the animal becomes terrified. At that time, reassure the victim, and after all animals have been calmed, engage them both in behaviors that are incompatible with aggression (i.e., feeding and petting). If the aggression persists, banish the aggressor until it is calm, then try again. If the aggression continues, banish the aggressor until later in the day or the next morning.

If the aggression - either between new pets or pets already in the household - continues, you can try a behavior modification technique called “flooding.” Done incorrectly this can be very traumatic and damaging. Consider consulting a behavioral specialist to see if this is necessary. It can be a wonderful last resort. In flooding, one animal is kept confined or otherwise restrained while in the presence of the other animal. It is kept in that restrained or confined situation until the level of the inappropriate reaction diminishes by at least 50%. Obviously you could not keep an animal on a leash for days without respite, but an aggressive animal can be crated for an extended period with food, water, toys, a blanket, and a litterbox (if necessary) while the other animal is either locked in a room with it or placed in a similar cage facing the aggressor.

If one animal is loose, you should realize that it could injure the caged animal or be injured by sticking its paws through the crate. If the animals become more aggressive and upset, flooding does not work and is counterproductive and should be stopped. Usually the effect is a positive one, and the crated aggressor realizes that the other animal also has a right to share the house. This technique is a last resort and should not be attempted with qualified advice.

Finally, pharmacological intervention may succeed where other therapies have failed. There are many newer anxiolytics available which, when prescribed by qualified individuals and used correctly, may be helpful adjuvants to behavioral and environmental modification. In very extreme cases of interanimal aggression in which all other therapies, including pharmacological, have failed, the best, kindest, and safest solution may be to place one of the animals in a new home.

The above is general veterinary information. Do not begin any course of treatment without consulting your regular veterinarian. All animals should be examined at least once every 12 months.

Types Of Guitarz

Whether it is the dull strumming of acoustics or the vibrating scream of an electric model, guitars come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and types. The next time you turn on the radio or watch MTV, you are sure to encounter the visual or audio of a guitar playing in your presence. As you explore the wide range of guitars on the market, you will find various options are utilized within rock, pop, blues and country music. While a standard guitar features six strings, there are many variations that offer a four-, seven-, eight-, ten- and twelve-string combination.

When it comes time to purchase a guitar of your own, you will find yourself faced with the decision of choosing the type of instrument that matches your interests, as well as playing ability. For starters, there are two main categories that these magical instruments are grouped into: acoustic and electric. Below are a few examples of both, as well as a brief mention of their distinct characteristics.

Acoustic Guitars

with regard to amplification, an acoustic guitar does not use any outside devices. It is through the shape and resonance that the acoustic sound you hear is created. While other types of guitars rely on electrical means to boost loudness, an acoustic guitar is by far one of the lowest sounding instruments on the block. This is why you will not see the acoustic guitar being played in a band or orchestra. It simply cannot find a voice among the reverberating sounds of the cymbals, drums, trumpets and trombones.

For those who wish to increase the level of loudness that their acoustic guitar produces, many models now come with built-in technology to create enhanced amplification. Some of the selections included under the umbrella of acoustic guitars include steel string guitars, “folk” guitars, twelve-string guitar and the arch top guitar. An acoustic bass guitar also falls under this category.

Musicians who strum a classical guitar will pluck nylon strings to create the sound they wish to duplicate. Various cultural acoustic guitar examples also appear within the Latino culture. With its sharper sound, flamenco guitars illustrate flamenco music, while Mexican mariachi bands utilize acoustic guitars called the requinto and the guitarron. Some acoustic guitars are named after countries, such as the Portuguese guitar. Additional acoustic guitars include the harp and the extended-range model.

Electric Guitars

When checking out the electric guitar category, there are certain features that do not appear in the acoustic guitar variety. A whammy bar, volume and tone knobs, as well as multiple pickups are offered through most electric guitar options. There bodies may also appear different, ranging from semi-hollow to solid to completely hollow. Since the guitar is electric, there are additional features or characteristics included, such as steel strings, vacuum tubes and amplification.

A popular instrument choice in rock, blues and jazz, the electric guitar allows users to experiment with a wide range of musical techniques. Many musicians dabble in the art of tapping, hammer-ons and volume swells. The difference in sound with an electric guitar can be seen through the number of strings it possesses. For example, with the seven-string solid body electric guitar, darker sounds are achieved by using the lower end of the guitar’s capabilities, which became a popular choice among musicians in the 1990s.

Additional electric guitar details include the two extra low strings found on an eight-string guitar, as well as the depth and many possibilities that a 12-string electric guitar has to offer. The electric bass guitar, double-necked guitar and the 5.1 surround guitar are also coupled in the category of electric guitars.

The Secret to Cleaning Your Metal Detecting Finds

In general, larger searchcoils will give better depth with larger targets and
better ground coverage. However, sensitivity to smaller objects may be
sacrificed. Smaller searchcoils will offer greater sensitivity to smaller objects
and improved target separation in trashy soil. There are certain features
needed for certain places the device is going to be used for. If you intend
to use it on the beach, the terrain wont be that rigorous. But you are
going to need waterproof protection.

A recent study proves that hand-held metal detectors are just as accurate
as x-rays in finding coins and other metallic objects swallowed by children.
They are cheaper and radiation-free, are usually lightweight, highly
sensitive and require little maintenance. The special shape of the sensitive
surface makes operation of the device easy, unlike portable metal
detectors with ring transducers.

In 1881, Alexander Graham Bell constructed one of the world??s first metal
detectors in an attempt to find an assassin’s bullet in President James
Garfield. Fischer patented a portable version in 1931.

The Secret to Cleaning Your Metal Detecting Finds

Metal detecting is considered to be one of today’s most sought-after
hobbies. In fact, nearly 80% of people who are into treasure hunting love
metal detecting as well. Many people have tried metal detecting, but only
those who know what it takes to become successful in metal detecting
accomplish something. People who persevere the most tend to find more
treasures than any other person does, even if they have been doing
metal detecting for many years.

This goes to show that metal detecting is not just any “finder’s keepers,
losers weepers” game. The valuables that people find are not appraised
just because they are rare. Most importantly, their values depend on the
perseverance people use when finding metals.

However, metal detecting is not just plain what you see is what you get
activity. Since most of the treasures are buried beneath the earth, you
can expect layers upon layers of sand, mud, or dirt on the items. Now,
the question is: Is it safe to clean these items?

There are some manufacturers of cleaning solutions that suggest you
clean your items. However, if your metal detector finds include coins of
high value, it is best not to clean them.

Metal detectors work on the principal of electromagnetics and their
effects on conductive metals. There are actually two separate elements in
the coil of a typical unit. One is a high-powered coil of metal which uses
the battery power to generate a penetrating magnetic field.

Will smaller children be using this detector? If this is to be a family
detector then it is critical that you consider the size of the detector
including how short the pole can be. Any place there is construction and
the ground is being cleared, that is a great place to start treasure
hunting. Successfull treasure hunting starts with having the right metal
detector. But which type of metal detector should you get? Complete
info on metal detectors and treasure hunting at detect-metal.info.

In older parks check in front of bandstands or areas where people would
sit, to listen to bands playing in the summer. Another good place is
baseball diamonds. Check the infield and the area where the players
would wait to play. Also look in the area that the families and fans would
watch the game from. As with other electronic equipments, innovations
seems to always happen overnight. If you are going to buy a metal
detector today, try to know that technologies are currently employed.
You do not want to be behind the technology line, right?

Metal detectors using PI (Pulse Induction) technology often makes use of
a single coil or even a series of coils that works as a receiver and the
transmitter. The short bursts of electricity are allowed to pass through a
coil or wire which causes magnetism. This means that coins classified as
“key collector’s items” should never be cleaned. This is to preserve the
mint mark and the date on the coins.

If you have found non-key collector’s items, or those with the typical
“face values,” you can clean them using mild solution. However, the
cleaning process will depend on the kind of coin you have found. For
example, copper and nickel can both be cleaned with the same process.
Other coins are cleaned using a different cleaning process and techniques.

Here are also some tips on eliminating stains on your coins. You can try
using the salt and vinegar solution. This will remove stubborn stains or
those that were not removed with the usual cleaning solution. The key
here is to evaluate, analyze, and appraise your metal detector finds before
you start cleaning them. This way you will be able to detect if a certain
item is more valuable when preserved and kept the way you have found
it, or if it has to undergo a special cleaning process to make it more
appealing and presentable.

Indeed, cleaning metal detecting finds may or may not be advantageous,
depending on the kind of items that you have. So to ensure quality,
always evaluate your items first. There are many different types of metal
detectors, some are more complicated then others. Find out how you can
go treasure hunting today!

Hand-held Metal Detectors are designed to safeguard security-sensitive
areas like schools, courtrooms, corrections facilities, sports events,
businesses, nightclubs, bars and other public areas and events. They are
used along with walk-through metal detectors. It is responsible for
receiving frequencies that bounce back from the object that the coil
detects. This type of detector is best for identifying different types of
metals.

It does, however, have its own downsides. Some say that the knobs of
the Pro XL are quite loose and when adjusting it, you have to be careful
not to hit it with your arms. It is quite sensitive and bumping it may
require you to start or reset the adjustments. Some users put a rubber
band around the knobs to keep them from moving or becoming loose.
Most metal detector companies also offer supplementary services like
designing, material sourcing, prototyping, short run manufacturing,
upgrading or re-designing, assembly services and specialty packaging.

Knobs, Hinges and More is Proud to Introduce Objects by Tracy Glover Studios and Michael Healy Designs

www.KnobsHingesandMore.com is proud to announce the addition of Tracy Glover hand blown cabinet hardware and lighting and Michael Healy finely crafted door knockers.

Southold, NY (PRWEB) February 27, 2006 — www.KnobsHingesandMore.com is happy to offer Objects of Art by Tracy Glover Studios. The ageless art of glass blowing is being energized by artisan Tracy Glover, who breathes new life into the medium with innovative talent, studied skill and a healthy reverence for tradition.

The Rhode Island-based glass blower is the designer and creator of the Tracy Glover Collection - an elegant family of handcrafted table lamps, floor lamps and vases. A study in understatement, Ms. Glover’s creations speak to any d?cor.

Ms. Glover employs Venetian glass techniques, choosing glass with vivid, ultra-rich colors like aurora, plum, celery, tourmaline and steel blue. These striking hues take on a new dimension of vibrancy when combined with neutrals. This drama of contrast is one of Ms. Glover’s signatures.

Each lamp and vase ordered is individually produced at the artist’s industrial studio. Mass production does not exist. The glass blowing process begins only when an order is placed, not a second sooner, promising the buyer a one-of-a-kind result.

Subtle variations in pattern and color are a natural occurrence in the process. Therefore, the artist recommends ordering pairs of lamps at the same time, to ensure a good match.

With a degree from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design, Tracy Glover’s path has taken her across the world. From Manhattan to Murano, Italy, this bold innovator has patiently crafted her signature elegance. It is her honor to have been selected as the first female glassblower at Val Saint Lambert Crystal factory in Belgium, a revered facility nestled in a 14th century convent.

A world away, both literally and figuratively, her creations have appeared on The White House Christmas tree, and have a permanent place at The Clinton Library in Little Rock and the Detroit Institute of Art in Michigan. Ms. Glover’s lamps are sprinkled like jewels in the Spa Tower Corridor and the Baccarat Room at the famed Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.

We are also happy to offer Michael Healy Designs finely sculptured door knockers and door bell ringers.Michael Healy studied metal sculpture at the University of Notre Dame where he learned century-old bronze casting techniques which became the foundation for his artistic expression. Michael’s artistic style is very identifiable. He is known for his ability to skillfully combine quality materials into sculptural, yet functional forms. He is particularly noted for his talent for turning an everyday object into a unique work of art. His most recognizable works are this series of unusual Door Knockers and Doorbell Ringers. Michael Healy has prolifically sculpted over one hundred door sculptures. His door sculptures depict interests such as gardening, cooking, outdoor life, the Southwest, horse-back riding and the seashore.

To ensure consistently high quality at all stages of the metal casting process, Michael Healy works from his own foundry in Rhode Island. Michael is assisted by a select group of talented artisans who handcraft each Door Knocker or Doorbell Ringer. This personal attention to detail guarantees that every door sculpture is truly special. Michael Healy signs each of his Door Knockers confirming its authenticity and quality craftsmanship.

A New Twist . . . A Classic Look In the world of decorative hardware, small changes go a long way. Putting new pulls on kitchen cabinets or new knobs on dresser drawers is the easiest way to alter the entire look of a room. With his new line of hardware, award-winning designer Lewis Dolin brings a world of experience - and a fresh look - to the decorative hardware market. Dolin’s distinct interior designs and tabletop accessories have been featured in a wide variety of national and international publications, including the New York Times, Interior Design ,Food & Wine and The Home by Susan Szenasy. His entry into the decorative hardware market is marked by the same simplicity of design and clean forms that have gained him a reputation as an original, talented designer.

Bin pulls take a dramatic new look with the Glass Bin Pull Series and complementary Mushroom Knobs. Both the Bar and Barrel Series are simple geometric forms with a great deal of versatility in their application. The Acorn Glass Series is an elegant turn on a natural form. And the Ceramic Series - King, Queen, Pawn, and Bishop - brings a clever, new twist to a classic look. A door has to have hinges and a means of opening and closing. Add some dash to the required hardware by making decisions about their look and feel. Choose the warmth of brass or the strength of a black finish. At the front door, decide to dress up the doorbell by choosing hardware that adds definitive character. Decide not to have a doorbell, but select a stylish door knocker instead. Make the front door the first statement you make for your home. Make your inner doors confirm the statement.Whether adding a ceramic knob or a gecko cabinet pull; a glass drawer pull or brass hinges to your kitchen cabinets, the warmest room in the house takes on the cozy, homey feeling that is its nature.

It’s all about the details, the personalization and ownership that comes with the details, that makes enhancing a kitchen something of an adventure … and fun.Floor registers frequently come with memories of growing up. Tennis Shoes: A Buyer?s (von morris) Guide

Tennis Shoes: A Buyer?s Guide

While the term ?tennis shoes? is commonly used in reference to athletic shoes of any type, you should not wear running shoes, walking shoes, or cross-trainers when playing tennis. These types of shoes do not provide the correct support and can increase the risk of foot and ankle injuries. In addition, such shoes can also damage the tennis court surface.

There are several criteria tennis players should consider when selecting tennis shoes. First, the court surface you primarily play on will dictate the type of tennis shoe you need. Second, the characteristics of your feet and body will determine what type of tennis shoe is most comfortable and effective. Finally, as with any type of shoe, different people value certain shoe attributes and qualities more than others.

Tennis players that play on hard court surfaces should choose tennis shoes that are durable and resistant to wear. Repeated play on hard (i.e. concrete) courts will wear the tread off the soles of tennis shoes. Loss of tread leads to loss of traction and increased slipping. In addition, the part of the tennis shoe that covers the big toes should have extra protection on the outside. Tennis players often drag their toe while executing shots, especially the serve. It is crucial for right-handed players that the inside toe area of their right tennis shoe have extra protection to prevent premature wear. This area of the tennis shoe is particularly vulnerable because most right-handed players drag their right foot when serving, and often when executing forehand groundstrokes.

Tennis players that play primarily on soft court surfaces (i.e. clay) should select tennis shoes that are comfortable and provide good traction. Durability is less of a concern. It is also vital that the tennis shoe have a smooth, flat sole. The knobs and bumps found on the soles of running shoes and cross-trainers can damage clay court surfaces. In fact, most clay court facilities do not allow players to wear such shoes, instead requiring appropriate tennis shoes.

Feet and body characteristics are an important consideration when selecting tennis shoes. People who are prone to blisters must wear tennis shoes that fit properly and are well cushioned. Advances in tennis shoe technology have created cushioning systems that are lighter, more comfortable, and better at removing moisture. Body type is also an important consideration in tennis shoe selection. For example, larger and heavier players may prefer heavier shoes that provide extra support.

Finally, as with all types of shoes, personal preference and taste often determines what type of tennis shoe a person purchases. Many players desire a tennis shoe with a certain look or color scheme. On a more functional level, some players may select lightweight tennis shoes in an effort to enhance foot speed and agility.

After you determine the type of tennis shoe is right for you, it is important to select a shoe that fits properly. Because tennis involves a lot of sprinting, cutting, stopping, and starting, you should select a tennis shoe that fits snugly across the width of the foot. You should, however, make sure that your tennis shoes have at least a half-inch of space between the toes and the end of the tennis shoe.

DOG DITTY DAILY #4

A Motivational Moment for Misguided Masters & Mutts

Compiled by Hugo Hotagen, DDD (Duke of Doorknobs & Doghouses), a loyal lapdog-in-training apprented to the affable, agnostic and all-round air-headed Court of the Quipping Queen.

A quirky, quizzical and sometimes questionable quotidian quotation, in honor of the “Year of the Dog”, follows herewith:

“Outside of a dog, a book is probably man’s best friend; inside a dog, it’s too dark to read.”

Author: Groucho Marx (American Comedian).

About the Author

Hugo Hotagen, (known affectionately by his peers as ‘Lord Long-In-The-Mouth’), appears to fit in rather well with a consummate collection of quick-witted quidnuncs over in the Court of The Quipping Queen and a curious cosmic place called The Wordorium.

Guide to metal (acorn manufacturing company) detecting hobby

Guide to metal detecting hobby

A pulsing current is applied to the coil, which then induces a magnetic field shown in blue. When the magnetic field of the coil moves across metal, such as the coin in this illustration, the field induces electric currents (called eddy currents) in the coin. The eddy currents induce their own magnetic field, shown in red, which generates an opposite current in the coil, which induces a signal indicating the presence of metal.

There are certain features needed for certain places the device is going to be used for. If you intend to use it on the beach, the terrain wont be that rigorous. But you are going to need waterproof protection.

The metal detectors in airports, office buildings and prisons for example help ensure that no one is bringing a weapon onto the property. Consumer oriented metal detectors provide entertainment to people and give chance in discovering hidden treasures.

How much will you spend on a detector? It is advisable to be a little flexible in this regard so that one can buy one that most suits the requirements.

Guide to metal detecting hobby

Metal detectors started to be popular in the mid-80s both as a hobby tool and aid to technical household troubles. Inexpensive, portable and fun, metal detectors play an exciting role in treasure hunting and finding lost items used for practical purposes.

The price of metal detectors ranges from $300-$1000, which encourages enthusiasts to carry on with their treasure hunting expeditions. Aside from this, the excitement that is brought about by discovering valuables from among the trash and unusable items is beyond imagination and satisfaction.

Serious enthusiasts and hobbyists check the major features of a metal detector so that it can help them hunt for items effectively and lessen wrong signals and false alarms. Some of these features are:

Depth - to increase your valuable finds, have a metal detector wherein the depth can be adjusted or maximized; not all metal detectors can search deeper grounds so be sure that the detector you have suits the depth you want to dig in.

Alerts - these are valuable additions to metal detectors wherein the beeps and sounds can alert you to a valuable item and what kind it is;

Sensitivity - metal detectors can be very sensitive or vice versa; be sure to get a metal detector that is just right to avoid false alarms;

Mention the words metal detector and you’ll get completely different reactions from different people. For instance, some people think of combing a beach in search of coins or buried treasure.

Any place that someone would spread a towel would be a spot to loose something in the sand. Change could fall out of a pocket when getting in or out of a car. Where ever a concession stand might have been is a good area to search. Look for places that people might have gone after dark for a romantic interlude. A good time to check out the beaches is after a large storm.

Any place there is construction and the ground is being cleared, that is a great place to start treasure hunting. Successfull treasure hunting starts with having the right metal detector. But which type of metal detector should you get? Complete info on metal detectors and treasure hunting at detect-metal.info.

As with other electronic equipments, innovations seems to always happen overnight. If you are going to buy a metal detector today, try to know that technologies are currently employed. You do not want to be behind the technology line, right?

A good way to view the purchase is to decide how much money you are comfortable spending. It is our view that you measure this purchase against other purchases you have made.

Some metal detectors use BFO (Beat Frequent Oscillation). This technology contains two coils of wire. The two coils are represented by two wires which is the large and the small. The large coil can be found in the search coil of the detector while the small coil is found on the System Control Pack.

Detection modes - settings and set-ups in your metal detector can be easily changed depending on your requirement; there are metal detectors that allow you to modify settings depending on what items you are looking for like coins, jewelry, relics and gold;

Battery life - metal detectors using power supply can support you with 20-30 operation hours and if there is no power supply, you can also use a AA battery;

Size and weight - this matters if it’s portable enough to travel; and,

Display - this just pertains to the information that can be displayed while in use.

As a form of hobby, some of the most common but exciting uses of metal detectors are:

Treasure hunting - discovering hidden treasures among trash; it can be caches of silver, gold or something else and it can be jewelry as long as it is of value that benefits the finder;

Relic hunting - same as hunting for treasure, this use also looks for something of value, although it’s more of the historic and period value;

Coin shooting - for coin collectors and enthusiasts, one hobby you should cultivate is metal detecting to support and beef up your collection;

Prospecting - this is to search for minerals and metals with value such as gold.

Knowing all these basic tips is enough to guide you on your treasure hunting journey. Good luck!

A recent study proves that hand-held metal detectors are just as accurate as x-rays in finding coins and other metallic objects swallowed by children.

You could find rings, bracelets, necklaces, coins or anything metal. Depending on the brand of metal detector you buy and model it is you will get different results. Just ask or research to find out what kind would best suit you.

The basic metal detectors are easy to get used to, with less features and buttons. Find out more about bounty hunter metal detector today!

Some users put a rubber band around the knobs to keep them from moving or becoming loose. You should buy a metal detector that is light weight. This is important when you are detecting things on a riverbank or body of water.

Prices of used metal detectors vary from $275 to $700 for all-purpose metal detectors. Underwater metal detectors can cost around $500.

The 10-Day Plan To Getting Your House Ready To Sell Privately

Fixing up, cleaning and polishing your home is a big part of selling it quickly. To get it in first-rate condition fast, here are some tips to help. You can either hire someone to complete them, or do them yourself. Either way, you?ll end up with a home that is in great shape.

Day 1

Today, start by cutting back the hedges. Getting rid of over- growth will open up the front of the house, so the buyers can see the house more easily. Next, cut and trim the lawn, and do any necessary weeding to the gardens. Sweep the driveway, and clean the outside lights. When the potential buyer pulls into the driveway for the first time, they will notice all your hard work!

Day 2

Get the paintbrush out! Chances are, the front door and the trim could use some fresh paint. If your home is more than 10 years old, you may consider updating the color combination. Color trends change over time, and a color change can update the appearance of your home.

Day 3

Get rid of the clutter. Any excess furniture can be stored, or simply disposed of. Extra clothes that don?t fit into closets or drawers need to be packed away. Kitchen and bathroom counters need to be cleared off. Any toys that regularly clutter the floor will need to be put away.

Day 4

Attack the kitchen. The kitchen is probably the most important room in the house from the buyer?s perception. You want it to appear bright, sparkling and spacious. A fresh coat of paint on the walls and ceiling can do wonders to freshen the appearance of a kitchen. If the cupboards are old, but in good physical shape, they can be repainted or re-stained. Clean the floor, and if it old and worn, you may consider replacing it.

Day 5 & 6

Paint the bathrooms. The best way to freshen up and update the bathroom is with a fresh coat of light colored, glossy paint. While bathroom renovations are expensive, a fresh coat of paint is affordable, and makes a huge impact.

Day 7

Clean, or paint the living and entry area. Walk through the house, and inspect the walls. Are they marked or scratched? Has the paint faded in spots? You probably won?t need to paint the ceiling- just be careful not to get any paint on it from the walls.

Day 8

Clean or paint the bedrooms. The same rules apply here as for the living areas.

Day 9

Wash the windows and clean the lights. Vacuum the drapes and get the dust off the blinds. Sparkling windows will make the entire house seem cleaner. Cleaning the dirt and grime from the light fixtures will increase their brightness, and make your whole home look cheerier.

Day 10

Have the carpets cleaned or replaced. If the carpeting is in good shape, the potential buyer will think the entire house is that way, as well. If your carpet is old and worn, you might consider replacing it. Even inexpensive new carpeting looks great. Always do the carpeting last- so you won?t have to worry about spilling any paint on it.

Now that all the hard work is done, you can rest for a day!

There will still be a few things that could use your attention. Any leaky faucets, wobbly doorknobs or squeaky hinges will need to be fixed. You might want to consider having a garage sale to get rid of closet clutter- plus it will make moving a lot easier!

Remember- first impressions count. You want the potential buyer to see your home in the best possible way.

Does Size Matter In The Bathroom
